The Flood don't seem to hibernate... and the Forerunners made sure that only the Halo ringworlds had the Flood.

Guilty Spark spoke of how the rings have been used in the past, meaning that the only surviving Flood are those contained in the Halos. Unless the Forerunner used planets as well as Halos to contain the Flood, that is.

But the dude is saying that maybe they got off of the rings!

I don't think it would happen. By the way, no offence, but you sound like a girl saying OMG... unless you are a girl, in which case, how's it going...

The War will wage forever; though with it's fury comes a peace that you will never know here.

Hm... there is a possiblility that the Flood could reside on other worlds, but I'm pretty sure that the Forerunner would've made sure all Flood specimens were in the Halo rings.

One thing that keeps bugging my mind is one idea: If the Covenant tried to access areas containing the Flood, couldnt they capture them and shower Earth with the Flood?

End result: Infected planet. It could work. The entire human population on Earth could be wiped out, and then all the Covenant need to do is glass the planet.

That wouldn't work. I mean it could, but it is VERY unlikely. There are a few reasons why.

A) What's to stop the flood from attacking and infecting the covenant upon capture?
B) Why would the covenant WANT to go near the Flood? They hate/fear them. They don't fear anything else... not even Spartans.
C) They would have to find the other Ringworlds, locate the Flood on those rings, and capture them. Unless they already know where the rings are, and they might, then it will take a while to find the rings.

Cronin's Law----The New Flood Drinking Game

yeah... because why would the covies bother using the flood as a bio weapon if they are just going to glass earth anyway? but the flood are in halo2 (read FAQ anyone who hasnt), so they may very well be on other worlds.

Me: "OMFG, Dude... wtf!"
AbolitionofMan: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to betray you."
Me: "That's the 4th time in this game alone!"
Chris: "Third, besides he had the flag I was trying to stop him, how was I supposed to know you were there."
Me: "I said, 'I got the Flag, don't shoot.'"
Chris: "Well those Wraith shots take a while to reach you."
Me: "You were right next to me, I had killed him and a minute passed before you decided to shoot."
Chris: "Hahahahaha, yeah... that was great."

Good thought, but that is assuming they can capture them. And well, the Flood is the ONLY thing the Covenant fear. They don't want to glass Earth, they want Earth for the Forerunner artifacts we have, and they cannot risk damaging/destroying them by glassing the planet. Plus, if you were the Covenant who would you rather face? An enemy you know you can easily defeat, one who you have been beating for years? Or something that doesn't give up, doesn't know fear, and something that haunts your very thoughts?

There a problem with that. The Covenant DON'T WANT to glass Earth.I think that the Covenant belive that the Forerunners once inhabitated Earth and are looking for an immensive amount of Forerunner tech.(Just a thought =)

i'm pretty sure the flood r on halo 2 so they have to go to earth. some dude took a flood guy brought it back and hid it in his basement or something fore 50 years untill it got out and spread. or mabe there's more halo's and the flood ascaped off of one of them. pesonaly i like the basement theory better. but whose to say bunge's the one that gets to decide it in the end

1:The flood on halo are daed and floting in that system DEAD!!!!! and are not alive.
2:step off the guy hes just trying to say some logical stuff.
3:yes the forrunner used other planets to live on and maybe they even made the flood.
and!!!
4:hell there might even be a frrunner installation on earth that the covenant discover while they are there and maybe not.

what ever the case the MC is going to skull -blam!- the covenant on earth and he'll kill every last one if he has to to avange his fallin teammates/fammily

Ok...the facts:
-the Flood infect sentient species.
-they can also hibernate (according to The Flood book).
-Halo was designed to kill all life to starve the Flood if the Flood escaped.
-The Flood would then hibernate because of lack of food.

So, if the Flood get away from the Halo installations, then the installations would go and kill all sentient life in the galaxy. If the Flood managed to get onto other worlds, wouldn't they go into their hibernation mode until suitable food returned? So the instant that a sentient life evolves on a planet and discover the Flood, they come out of hibernation....and there you have your infected planet. So its possible that the Flood could be on planets other than the Halo constucts.

Thanks for reading and enjoy.
