I'm not buying the reason they give.
I've worked in retail (and looked into a job at FedEx, too), so I can tell you Microsoft might have to do the same thing in America.
I said might.
FedEx doesn't deliver to businesses on weekends. They'll deliver to residences on weekends, not businesses.
UPS has Saturday delivery, but if retailers got Halo 2 on Saturday instead of Friday, what's the difference? They might still be "tempted" to sell the game early. Hell, if I were a game retailer, I'd certainly be tempted! But only tempted.
Maybe Microsoft will use that new delivery service, DHL.
Whatever the case, if they intend to get Halo 2 on the shelves on Tuesday, November 9th, at 12:01am, they'll have to have the games in the stores by Monday afternoon at the latest. That means shipping them overnight Sunday, or by regular freight the previous Thursday or Friday.
The implication in that article is that European retailers are perhaps not quite as law-abiding when it comes to honoring laydown (release) dates. Here in America Shopko (a retailer like Target if you don't know) got stung for selling the Lord of the Rings movies early. I can only imagine what Microsoft will do if someone breaks the street date for Halo 2. *shudder*
By the way, great attitude, Ash55! "That's the way, yeah!"
