Cars can function underwater - just ask the Marines. They use a modified APC that is fully submersible to take beacheads. Besides, the human vehicles in Halo function on hydrogen which can be refined from water and it would be possible to seal the core components. Still, a big human hovering APC with mannable chainguns on both sides of the personnel compartment would rock.

I don't think patches should be used for that. I think patches should be used if there is somthing really messed up with the game. It's lame to have a developer put out a game, knowing that they can just patch features they havn't finished by the launch date, even if it is bungie and halo 2. I think patches for features are lame.

Who's to say boats weren't already implemented in the game? This could be very likely, considering there is a pic of an early render of a boat (for Halo 1) over at halo.bungie.org. Maybe they already used some of their ideas from Halo 1 that weren't actually in it, like the boat, for Halo 2.

just because vehicles can dirve around under water doesent mean mean that its not more advantagous to go on top of it...whether by boat or hover personell carrier either with a chain gun or two.

I am a former Marine, Tarran. We do not have any fully submursible APC's, but the
(A)AAV's only stick out of the water about 1-2 feet and are much slower in the
water than on land. But I think something simaler to them would be just as cool as a boat in Halo 2.

either way...even if halo does have fully submersable personell carriers its still more advantagous in certain situations to have a boat or a larger hovercraft...going underwater is not always going to be the best idea, you move very slow and its still possible to be spotted. but if your over water on a 3-4 person sized boat with dual motors then you can whip around fairly fast and if it has a chain gun mounted on the front it makes you that much more formidable.

Well, I agree that I wouldnt want to have to wait longer for it to release but I would like some naval battles. But if anything they should at least have some new vehicles through Xbox Live's Downloadable Content. Heck maybe some levels that they could start working on now, and post in December like a christmas present. :D

bah

First off, MC weighs about 1/2 ton with suit. Page two Fall of Reach (sort of).
Secondly, electric cars would have no problems working under water, nor would hydrogen fuel-cell cars.
Thirdly, we currently have NO TECHNOLOGY to make energy out of water. Using hydrogen to power things burns it with oxygen in a 2:1 ratio. 2 hydrogens, 1 oxygen. H2O. Water. You can't tear apart water to make water for energy. You're thinking of fusion power, which is years ahead of us.
Fourth, boats are cool. STFU about boats ever being obsolete. They are the oldest form of trasnsportation not including walking.

im my thought it does not seem to make sense if bungie doesent include boats later on.sure its a little more work for them AFTER the game is released but weve been waiting for a LONGGGGGGGG time now and we are all planning on emptying our pockets for them. for those that dont want boats I dont get it, it wont delay the game, its a free download/upgrade, adds more depth AND strategy to the game and even if you for some reason dont want to play with boats still then you dont have to use them, there are other option out there...just not many good ones yet.

I still like the submersible idea because it would be great for stealth insertion on maps like Death Island, because no one would see you until you popped out right onto their beach with chainguns blasting.

I agree but a submersible is just to far out of bungies style for it to work...how about clearish/stealth jetskis? you wont be seen but you will be moving really fast and that works good for insertions...

It'd be cool if they had a bought that holds all the air planes(can't think of the name) and it could have like a ghost a banshee and maybe (if they make them) airplanes or a helicopter.

how about a larger boat that can store an ATV or a ghost on it so if the boat sinks you can still escape?

That would be sweet, but you would have to add anti-plane guns and etc totally changing the game style

it would be sweet if they had boats. an awsome level for that would be like death island on the pc, but theres 2 islands. and each team gets and island and the only way to the other island is dropship or boat. u would need like 32 people for a map like that, 16 too small

For someone who said that they would rather travel by air that’s pretty cool but a boat is more stealth like. And for the people who say boats wouldn’t be used in a future setting your thinking about boat's in this day and age. Did anyone see the movie street fighter and the boats they were using it looked like a stealth bomber and it was bad a** I think it would go great with the halo 2 setting. If they add boats they could have a new game type called capture the fish. lol just kidding but boats would be cool to have in the game.

I think if they should have boats it should be before the release date, so i dont think they should make a patch for it, also, could they make a patch for it?
Like making a vehicle appear where the original hadnt intended it too would be some freaky programming.

Or if they did make a patch, it better not be too big (of a download) and it still better look good!

*I think if they include boats, they should sink pretty damn quickly, unless theyre fully armoured slow moving ones!

Eww boats. Dude's . . . . . there's shizarks in that water. And boats just...doesn't seem cool.

Too GTAish in my oppinion. And water probably is too slow to navigate through even with speedboats. Who'd waste their time in water while everyone back on land was getting the flag? Who'd waste their time on water when in team slayer everyone was about to reach 25 kills? Water is useful when hiding with ...say Oddball but otherwise whoa-no.

I'll eat my words when a level has two islands facing each other and boats and banshees and stuff. Till then . . . nah.

plan on eatin dem words cowardly elite....and guess what..you dont like or think boats are stupid..your opinion, you dont have to use them, there are plenty of people here who would gladly. And elarith its almost 99% chance its not going to be in final version of H2, and for download size you dont have to worry bout that, if you dont want to download it off of XBOX LIVE then a magazine like XBN will release a demo disk with the patch on it as an extra.
