Subject: Halo 2 online costs money?

Grumpy you mean MS charged you $7.99 for one month right? cuz 49 cents added on to $7.50 would be $7.99.

Thanks Paul, I did it again. For some reason I keep writing 12 instead of 7 and confusing people. I'll stop posting on this subject, since I can't keep it straight.

You don't have to pay to play thanks to Xbconnect. If all you're interested in is playing Halo 2 online and money is an issue then I highly recommend using that program.

Wow, it's only $50 a YEAR and you can't afford it? There are people who spend tons of their money on Xbox LIVE and you can't have $50 to last you a year? Even without a job, $50 is not that much compared to even having an Xbox or Xbox 360 to begin with.

Why can't it be free
Because people like insinity are there to eagerly pay for and defend the price on behalf of Microsoft. Nevermind that every other service out there is free even including Xbox Live for Windows.

I don't play live, but I pay for it for a family member (he plays GoW 1 & 2 mostly). I thought xbox live was the only game in town (that's how much I know). Is xbconnect popular and why doesn't everyone play that (broad question)? The more I read, the less I understand.

Is xbconnect the same thing as the Xbox Live for Windows you mentioned and everything goes through the PC?

xbconnect seems to good to be true.

Yeah, I went there to look. I didn't realize it was for the comp but he program does play your xbox and 360 , so that's cool. I just don't understand how they can exist without charging, you can only make so much off of advertising and that site has to be a lot of work.

No xbconnect is different then Windows Live. xbconnect tricks your XBOX in thinking that you are playing over a LAN (Local Area Network) connection, when in fact you are really playing over the Internet. While Windows Live is like XBL, only for PC games. PS, XB Connect is a third party program and is not support by Microsoft or Bungie.

Wait, if I still have 2 months or so left and I code in another card, it combines the old time and new time, right?
