Look, I don't play much Halo online at all, but I play the h**l out of the games, over and over...

I am currently playing Halo 2, and I am STUCK on a part, CANNOT get past it, have spent at least 15 hours or so trying...I KNOW you guys have aced this part hundreds of times, so please help me out so I can finish the fight...hehe

I am in the second part of the hangar in the beginning of the game, the room where there is the 4 plasma cannons on an upper catwalk manned by two grunts. I start with two marines with me. All I have for ammo when I start is 2 plasmas, no grenades, my BR, and 60 needler rounds. In the area is more BR ammo, 3 frag grenades, a few laser pistols, some SMGs, and the Magnum. These last two are out in the hallway behind the Marine turrets where my spawn point is outside the hangar doors before I stick my head in two kill the two grunts on the catwalk manning the plasma cannons.

I can (most of the time) make it to the third wave, when the gold Elite shows up, and by then I am stuck with almost no ammo and roughly 4-7 Elites left to take out...magnum/plasma pistol is really hard for me to use, but I try, but my problem is when I peek around a corner to try and take one out, all the others come running and then I am being bombarded with plasma rifle rounds for like 20 seconds non-stop...

I REALLY wanna get through this, it's killing my morale...I want to move on SOOO badly...

Also, playing on Legendary...

thanks in advance for any help and for not pokin too much fun...

R.I.P. Halo 2
11/9/04 - 4/15/10

- B( )B

That exactly the part my friend and I got stuck on, but that was the year Halo 2 came out so I can't really give you any advice.

My Halo 2 disc isn't working entirely, I can play multiplayer and the missions up to Regret, but nothing past that level.....

so at the risk of breaking my purist tradition, might there be any applicable cheat codes, say for more plasmas, sniper rifle, etc. just to get me through this part, and would they have any outcome on the rest of the game? I just never use cheat codes because I like to play based on my own skill and merit, but desperate times call for desperate measures...

I assume you mean Legendary. I had to stop playing that part until I beat all the rest of the levels, then I went back and beat it. It's the hardest part of the game for most people.

You can just use perma cammo if you can whup Delta Halo to get to Envy.

The key to surviving this part of Cairo Station and moving past it is headshots my friend!

You have to be able to take out elites with the PP/BR combo within one or two attempts per elite. The reason you have not been able to get past the Gold Elite is probably because you have run out of ammo. Below is my modus operendi (assuming no skulls active):

Before I have gotten to the doorway to the hanger I have grabbed up every plasma pistol I can from the previous hanger and gotten any magnums and rounds available, I drop these near the human machine gun turret in the hallway. Once I have all of that placed then I can:

- take out the 2 turret grunts.
- take out any other grunts that are now occupying and will spawn with the magnums or smgs.
- take out elites with the PP/BR combo ONLY after grunts are dead and no more have spawned.
- throw grenades only after grunts have died and dropped any of theirs, the chain reactions help to weaken or kill elites at times (you get some seriously crazy explosions if you have the Catch skull)

The best place to use the PP/BR combo from is from behind the two big crates that are immediately inside the doorway. You have to make sure that you have a place to hide from all of the PR fire that is going to come your way. It helps to knock the two crates together to form one big shield (it also makes it quicker if you have sputnik on, but you do not need it if you are patient). The covie shields at near the boarding craft will make this a bit more difficult, but if one of your PP shots takes it out, immediately go for another PP homing shot with the shield down.

^ ^ ^ That's one of the best (and short) guides I've seen. Transport the weapons by dual-weilding a PP or PR with the SMG. Drop the weapons on the landing before you go through the door. Pile up those weapons!

I finally got it using the mini guide above, and by changing up my strategy and goin into them for the kill instead of hangin in the distance hopin' to land a few potshots in from across the room...was a pain in my a@@holes but i got it finally...

thanks for the advice from everyone

Bungie is the best.

Simple as that.

Good job, there is places off track that have more ammo too! Good work anyways :)

-Dual-

I remember i restarted the level and saved all my BR ammo, move all the plasma pistols from the last room close enough to the new hanger so you can pick them up. Kill the two grunts first and the just use plasma pistol, BR combo on the elites. The next wave comes every time the elites die, so don't worry about the grunts too much.

Thanks for the "props" Grumpy, and I am glad that our advice helped our friend through the level, I wish more people asked!
