Open Command Prompt as an Administrator. Then navigate to the folder you installed Halo 2 DS in. usually, you would type: "cd C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2 Dedicated Server" No quotes. Then you have a few options:
To run Halo 2 DS as a service, which means it runs when you start Windows, type in "h2server -createservice -live"

To run it in LAN mode, replace "live" with "lan"

To run it as a server where you have to manually start it, type in the following:
h2server -live

From there, you will need to provide your Windows LIVE ID to log in. Usually, this is your Hotmail or LIVE account.
To make the server autosign-in when you start the server, type in:
live autosignin example@hotmail.com

or

live autosignin example@live.com

Then you will be asked to type in your CD key. To do this, type in the command: (X's represent the CD Key number/letter)

live key XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

If you installed the server as a service, access it by opening CMD with Admin privileges and type in:
h2admin -live
Replace "live" with "lan" if you are in LAN mode.

If you don't have the server as a service, type in:
h2server -live
Replace "live" with "lan" if you are in LAN mode.

Server requirements:
1.7GHz x86 or x64 processor
1GB RAM
40GB Hard Drive with 15GB Free
Ethernet Port
Windows Vista or Windows Server 2003

A silver account will work for LIVE servers.
