Hello, First time poster, long time reader. (You don't have to give me sympathy "lol's")

Anyway, I recently downloaded the demo of Halo PC and since I played the demo and it was a smooth transition from the X-Box, plus the "multiplayer capablity", I thought I would buy the full version. Well, I thought it was match made in heaven until I got to the multiplayer aspect of the game.

Well, I push the refresh button to get a list of servers I could play on, and seeing as when I did this in the demo version I get a nice extensive list of servers I could log in and play on, sadly however, This didn't happen on the full version, I got like 4 servers tops, which is pretty short. And since the day I bought the game the results haven't gotten better.

Has the whole halo community desolated the PC universe? Are there as not as many fans as there are jingoistic Americans? THE THOUGHTS ARE DRIVING ME WILD!

Uh, help anyone? By the way I haven't downloaded CE or anything for that matter. So, anyone have any resolutions to my short server list? Thanks in advance. [/color]

Yo, Recycle_Toad, glad you asked this. I was having a similar problem not too long ago.

The most likely cause of this behavior are filters. When you're in the Gamespy server list, click on the "Filter" button at the bottom and adjust the filters so you see more servers. Also, (and this was the thing that solved my problem) there is a column inbetween the Map and Game columns that doesn't have its own name. It's an icon of halo. Click that icon at the top of that column and see if you get any more servers. I have no idea what that icon does, but for me when I click it, it's the difference between night and day. When I toggle it back and forth, I see about four servers as you say, then if I toggle it again I see 100s of servers. :) Don't worry about the state of Halo PC. There are still a couple 1000 players online at any given moment.

It you have time, you should check out Halo: Custom Edition over here.
You can play custom maps and there have been many fixes implemented in this new version of Halo put out by Gearbox. If you have trouble finding a download mirror, just let me know here.

Well, I got the custom edition, and as I thought, there is a plethtora of severs, but the problem still persist on the regular version...I'm going to see how fun this is on the "Custom Edition" if it's enough to stifle by -blam!- load of -blam!-ing (excuse my french) then I won't come nagging to you guys...Thanks again.

Good to hear you're playing Custom Edition. That's all you really need, as multiplayer for PC is much more limmitted. We need all the extra players on CE that we can get, because it's the only version of the game that has promise for future updates. Play Halo PC for single player campaign mode and play Halo CE for Multiplayer. There's really no reason not to. :) However, just for the sake of troubleshooting, did you try what I suggested (about the icon inbetween the Map and Game columns)?

Yeah, I tried it and it didn't work but still, I'm appeased with CE, it's awesome, Tons of dedicated servers and enough modded maps to keep the game tasteful, thanks for the suggestion dude.

Since I'm sucha big halo fan I can stick around for some more posting, so, I can contribute back to the Halo community with my insights on the game and so on. Boards I usually hop around on aren't as halo fanatic as this one....So, uh, thanks leoht..and yeah other stuff. o.o
