in halo you probably have the monitor set at a higher resolution/refresh rate than it can handle, but in windows it is fine, therefore, the monitor cannot display it. If not, then your computer is screwed up...

You can fix that by either getting a better monitor or forcing it to run in windowed or 640x480 mode. I'm not sure how to do this but there should be a guide somewhere.

hmmmmmmm, update ur video drivers. If its ATI go to ATI.com. If its nvidia, go on nvidia.com. Or lower the refreash rates/resolution. Did u disable the feature that told ur monitor to hide modes it can't display?

He obviously can't lower the refresh rate or resolution ingame. It will only hide modes that the monitor can't display on the display properties, the games will still have them all. It might be your drivers though, or maybe a conflict between 2 sets.

Heyyo,

Not drivers n' such, it's definately him pushing HaloPC beyond the monitor's ability. Start HaloPC up in safe mode, usually killing off the game by console and starting it back up works, and gives you the option for "safe mode".

It's not really a rule, but it's reccomended with games that you shouldn't set the game's screen rez higher than your desktop's screen rez. cause it could cause problems if the game doesn't shut off right n' such.

You want your monitor refresh rate high to make it easier on your eyes yes, but make sure it's within your monitor's limits. Usually 640x480 @ 120Hz, 800x600 @ 85Hz, and 1024x768 @ 60Hz. That's your average 15' Monitor. Bigger the monitor, the higher the refresh rates, and bigger the screen rez.
