so i was watching the 2003 E3 demo over again, and i noticed something. when chief first runs into the wreckage near the middle of the demo, about 4:25 into it, he peeks around a corner, pulls back, and another marine yells "get clear" and chucks some kind of grenade in. but i would have expected the 5 or so grunts and jackals to die right? they are all still standing there, covering their faces and looking dazed. proof of flashbangs/stun nades? maybe. i think it would be cool, especially for MP, run into the other teams base, chuck a flashbang, stun them for a few seconds so you can grab the flag. did anyone else notice this?

This flashbang thing was brought up before. I'm not just gonna say that it was defenetly not a flash but the explosion but the noise sounded exactly the same as the one MC used earlier in the vid. Maybe the marine just -blam!- up.

Edit: Me type bad English(corrections)

Maybe it is a new feature of grenades and has something to do with the marine throwing it.

yes it will work on the covie but not other spartans if you read the books MC has a light filter so if something is bright (like a flashbang) it whould manualy darken the hud.

Not if it flashes quick enough. On some occasions he gets blinded by lights.

yes, i read the books too, but i dont take them as fact untill i play halo 2, too much has been brought into question. plus multiplayer really has no relation to the books, you can be an elite in MP right? do elites have filtery things?(not a direct quote obviously)

someone said this was a demonstration of a mere effect the frags would have, if you threw a frag, close one would die, farther away would get stunned. also, the marine says "frag and clear"

The flash is not what stuns you. It is the pressure wave from the blast. The Spartans suits would also filter this out too. Stun grenades would have no effect in MP. Why would any choose to use a stun grenade when the frag will have the same effect but also kill hurt them?

The marine says "Frag and Clear". Shiska has also said it is not a stun grenade. The frag grenades of Halo 2 have stun effects on the Covenant in SP.

I never said it stunned him. I just said that even though his visor has that anti bright light thing quick flashed will still blind him.

And elites don't have visors so flashbangs would be an unfair advantage in MP in some situations.

Exactly, the flash only further applys disorientation, it does not cause the full effect.

when you go around the corner they are hloding their ears, right? and frags make a loug BANG when they go off so....... if a nade whent of near you i think that you would be stunned, so why not a weak grunt?

Elites have helmets, and HUDs. HUDs would indicate they have "visors" over their eyes. I'd imagine they also are polarized against flare attacks.

Shiska was quite adamant. The grenade in the e3 2003 demo is not a Flash grenade.

Fragmentation grenades will stun those that aren't killed by them (Grunts and Jackals anyways). Given that it was a demonstration, the Grunts probably were given infinite health until the grenade went off just to show off the "delirium" effects of the fragmentation.

Notice there's also a lot of blood on the ground afterwards which wouldn't have been there if it was a flash grenade.

Flashbangs/ stun grenades, the idea seems too stealthy. the whole reason why halo rocks is because it is a shootem up where you charge in and every thing dies. If you start adding in things like flashbangs then it sort of ruins the game.

forget flash bangs, we need smoke/chaf in MP to disrupt visual and motion tracker at the same time
