Let it be known that I have a link to the TeamSpeak 2 RC2 download right here. TeamSpeak is an excellent stand-alone application that runs very well in the background of any online game, but you can use it just to chat with your buddies as well. I have made it my goal to spread this application throughout the Halo community, and with your help we can put an end to chat-kills (Heh, you know you can't resist).
I have a server created already, and once you download, install, and bring up TeamSpeak, send me a instant message or e-mail to register a login name (keep it short and simple, there is a separate Nickname option for display purposes) and password.
Even if you don't currently have a mic or headset, you can still text other users on the TeamSpeak server. Then after you obtain a headset or mic, you can use live chat instead of text. Make sure that the players in your games are logged into the TeamSpeak server though, or they aren't going to hear you... Just think though, the more people we inform of this, the more common TeamSpeak will become than text.
Once the application is up and running, click on the Connection drop-down menu and select Connect. Right-click on the white space in the window that comes up, under the tab Local Servers, and select Add Server. Now fill in the fields with this information...

Label: The Maw TeamSpeak Server
Server Address: 65.34.49.246:8767
Nickname: <recommend Halo Profile name or forum name>
Select Anonymous if you have not yet registered with the server, and skip the next two lines. Otherwise, select Registered and proceed.
Login Name: <insert login given by myself>
Password: <insert password given by myself>

After entering all this information, press the Connect button. Happy chatting! ^_^

Let's all do our part to make the Halo experience better...

Keep this one alive, it sounds cool - the only MAJOR thing I HATE about Halo PC is that there is no teamspeak built-in. I mean, heck - HL did it....

Hey this sounds great, i already use teamspeak with some of my friends, but it would be nice to be able to use it with other people in halo. And what is it that you need so i can log into youre teamspeak server??
And in the teamspeak server you need to have two seperate channels for each team.

BTW, what is the ip address of the halo server?

If you had read all of my post, you would see that I listed server information already. Also, the download is TeamSpeak 2 RC2, so make sure it is the same application. And yes, I am going to have clan channels on my server created by personal request. So if you want a secure channel for a team game, make sure to follow the directions in the server. However, you should e-mail me with what you want for your login name (short and simple, this isn't your displayed name) and password, and I recommend once you set Nickname on your own, you make it your Halo profile name.
I have a vision, people! Help me make it real!

EDIT: I've discovered people are having trouble connecting to my server, and I believe the problem is in the port setup. I'm not sure though, so if someone with TeamSpeak experience could help, I'd appreciate it.

Gah, sorry about that.
What do you mean I didn't list "it"? I hope you mean my e-mail, and not some vague solution to my server problem. I'm able to set everyone up on it, but until I figure out how to fix the listen port, no one can actively use it.

By the way, big thanks to whoever stickied this thread. I feel it will make a difference in Halo Online. ^_^

Alright, is this app for Mac?

If it is, it will be great to experience a teamspeak other than yelling between dorm rooms during a LAN game ;).

My Halo server IP will be the same as the TeamSpeak server IP, only with port 2302 instead of 8767. But what I was hoping was to use this as a request system in which people can start their own servers after I create two team channels for them. For instance, let's say two clans wish to have a clan war. I would establish the secure clan channels and they would start their game, using my server for their own purposes.

That IP address is an internal address. It is for your home network behind the router/firewall. The 10.x.x.x and 192.168.x.x are reserved for private networks and will NOT be routed out into the Internet. You have a IP that your ISP assigned to you and that is what we would see. For example, You have three computers in your home on a wireless network. IP's 192.168.1.101 .102 & .103. Your computers see your router as 192.168.1.100 The ISP gave you an IP of 200.194.1.67. When you surf .101 send info to the router at .100 the router sends it out as coming from 200.194.1.67. The web page send info back to 200.194.1.67 and the router knows to send it to 192.168.1.101 It is so you can have many addresses in your network and not use up available IP address on the Internet. You have to figure out what your external IP address is and set your router/firewall to forward the ports for Team Speak and Halo thru to your server. You can set an account for me login "Iggwilv" password "Tsojcanth"

Ah, thank you so much, but...
Why do you ppl keep telling EVERYONE your passwords! I'm giving you all different passwords than you request now. There IS a private message system on this forum.

EDIT: Now I can't figure out how to change the IP address the thing uses. Try putting in this IP address... 65.34.49.246:8767

Can someone explain to me how to get the firewall to redirect to my internal IP address from the external one I have listed? Please be specific, as in how to adjust the TeamSpeak server's settings and what to modify in the firewall and such.

TeamSpeak is a great program, I use it all the time with my friends when playing Halo PC. I highly recomend it, if you haven't tried it. It is clear sound, good volume, and easy. Also it is a good way of finding active Halo PC Dedicated Servers with good players in the. TeamSpeak is just an overall great program for the everyday PC gamer.

I'm afraid any other questions will have to wait until someone gives me a response. Certain individuals told me why my server isn't working, but they have yet to explain exactly how to fix it. I need elaborate, step-by-step instructions people, or you can kiss this TeamSpeak idea goodbye.

I can say though that perhaps my server will be used for a few clans and current players in my Halo server. This thread can be used by others who wish to create their own servers however. I believe certain people should make the effort to start their own TeamSpeak servers, thus creating a more accessible TeamSpeak community.

I'm sorry, unfortunately I don't know the how. I only know the basic concepts of networking, I've never got into actually configuring routers and all that. But let's give it a try anyway. First you need to identify what piece of equipment the ISP connection is hitting first; router, firewall, cable modem etc. Basically what is the first thing the cable/wire connects to in your network. When we identify that we can get a manual or google for the specifics.

If anybody has encountered this problem setting up a dedidcated server we could use your help. We really need to get a Team Speak server in place.

Ahaha! I believe I may have found the solution! I did a bit of research on port forwarding and set up our router online to forward the ports for TeamSpeak to my internal IP address. Now I just need someone to try to connect who has already been registered.

Thanks for your accolades, Cougar. Heh, I appreciate it. This took some work, but now even if others follow my lead and create their own servers and they have a network, I can help them with port forwarding. This is great, MSXML shall fall into the dust as TeamSpeak overtakes the Halo gameplay!
