I hear in halo 3 there is a ranking system for players depending on kills,deaths, etc etc. Does halo 2 (pc) have a ranking system?If so can you explain it to me or give me a link to info.

I'm not sure, but there is a forum under the "other forums" tab, that is for Halo 2 Vista. I would ask there.

You have skill in ranked playlists on H2, same as in H3. The Halo 2 system is a bit easier to understand, and it's a little more accurate than TrueSkill in Halo 3. You see your rank in a ranked playlist.

Unlike H3, however, your highest skill will be your highest CURRENT skill, as opposed to highest obtained skill. If you had a 20, for example, and went to a 19, your new highest skill would be 19.

Halo 2 uses a hidden EXP points system.

Level |-| EXP Points
1 == 0-100
2 == 100-199
3 == 200-299
4 == 400-599
5 == 600-899
6 == 900-1199
7 == 1200-1599
8 == 1600-1999
9 == 2000-2499
10 == 2500-2999
15 == 5000-5499
20 == 7500-8149
30 == 20750-22899
40 == 49000-52649
50 == 92250...
---------------------------------

The number of points you earn depends on the score of the game. Let's say you are playing a game of Slayer with four people. The result of the game is as follows:

1st place: Player 1 (John, level 10)
2nd place: Player 2 (Paul, level 7)
3rd place: Player 3 (George, level 8)
4th place: Player 4 (Ringo, level 5)

John will earn points for beating the other three. Paul will earn points for beating George and Ringo, but lose points for being beaten by John. The number of EXP points earned or lost is based on the level of the players. You'll get a bonus for beating "better" players, and theres a point deduction penalty for losing against players that are not as experienced as you are.

Points based on level difference

level difference | Higher win | Higher loss | Lower win | Lower loss |

0 | 100 | 100 | 100 | 100 |
1 | 95 | 105 | 115 | 85 |
2 | 90 | 110 | 130 | 70 |
3 | 85 | 115 | 145 | 55 |
4 | 80 | 120 | 155 | 45 |
5 | 75 | 125 | 165 | 35 |

Let's calculate the EXP change for John. John (level 10) beat Paul (level 7). They are three levels apart, so the third row of the table shows us that John gains 85 points. John also beat George (level 8), so John earns 90 points because they are two levels apart. Finally, John earns 75 points for beating Ringo (level 5). The total for john is 250 points. The total is divided by the number of enemies (three), so the EXP point change is +83.

Let's have a look at Paul. He lost to John, who was higher in level. We consult row four of the table and have a look at the "lower loss" column. According to this, he loses 55 points. However, he won against, who was a higher level. Row two of the chart shows us that a "lower win" earns 115 points. Finally, Paul picks up 90 EXP for beating Ringo. So overall, his experience point change is (-55 + 115 +90) = 150, divided by 3 = +50. The calculation for George is (-70-105 +85):3 = -30. He loses 30 points. Ringo loses 53 points ((-35-70-55):3).

Finally, there is another factor. Players with low levels get a helping hand. Their loss of points is divided by a factor, so that they will not lose their rank as quickly as an experienced player will. Furthermore, you will only lose a level if your experience points drop below the midpoint EXP required for the previous level. This helps avoid the frustration of hovering right at the boundary between two levels, constantly switching back and forth. It also offers you peace of mind when you reach a new level - you know you won't be slipping back down immediately.

So there you go, the complete Halo 2 ranking system.

False, you can go down and still have the highest skill acheived whatever your highest ever was.

The ranked games are in Optimatch. Haven't you played Team Slayer or Team Snipers before?

Nvm, I looked at the games you played and you've only played unranked and custom games.
