We all know that Halo was built to contain the flood....

....But is that it???

I'm sure that not all of the ring was searched within those 3 days of gameplay.

Even if ONI had records of the threshold system, i doubt HALO had been searched either.

What's to say that Halo didn't contain other "nasty" surprises....

...What's to say that the Halo ring in Halo2 won't be searched completely wiedling many other "nastys"???

Just a thought :)

There are two groups of people in the world - those that hope, and those that wish. The first group hopes that nothing bad will happen. The second group wishes that they are there when it does. Which one are you?

The reason we know Halo's specific purpose is because of this statement made by 343 GS in the Library level: "The installation was specifically built to study and contain the Flood".

I am not starting an argument here, but i keep hearing people say that there are other halos out there. Now...I know there are other forerunner facilities out there...that much is fact, but has Bungie ever once referred to them as Halo's? It seems every time I read something about this, Bungie only refers to them as Ancient Forerunner Constructs. I could be reading too much into it but I'm just saying maybe there are other constructs out there besides 6 more Halos or however many you want to believe there are.

That doesn't burst my bubble at all.

Why would you need the entire Halo ring to study the Flood, with all the others as well???

Im sure the facilities would have been used up also for different types of research.

There's meant to be about 25 needed or something i think, plus the extras, (just incase).

We definately know there are more than one Halo rings still out there because 343 states "once all the other Halo rings follow suit"

Umm in halo one the robo AI guy mentions there are multiple halo facilities out there "just like this" that will activate just like halo was about too.

He only says " Once the others follow suit", and the only ones who refer to the installation as Halo are the Covenant, that is where we got the name for it.

AND!!! that halo is classed as inst. 04.(installation 04) this might mean they come in the doble figues.

I'm not trying to argue with anyone... I've done enought of that in the last few days:)

I'm just stating what we know to be a fact. We know that the reasons stated above are why Halo was built, and there is no mention of any other reasons in the books or game. I don't think 343 GS is going to lie about it, but I could be wrong:)

yes but is HAS to be ring for it to be able to do the kill life effect. thats the only reason they made halo at all..otherwise they could just put all that crap on any random planet..so therefore it follows suit that if the other "facilitys" out there are similar in shape..therefore probably rings.

Instillation 04 is shaped lie a ring for a reason, not for looks or cosmetics, but to do a job, all the other instillations must be the same shape because they are meant to perform an almost identical funtion most probably. Therefore, they're gonna be rings.

We've even had confirmation from Bungie that a new Halo ring will be coming into play.

What more theories and fact do you need? ;)

I agree with the both of you (eagle and price). While I think the Flood are the main feature of Halo, I do think it is possible that the Forerunner may come into contact with at least something else very wicked in thier time as dominators of the universe...and maybe just put it aside when they became Flood-paranoid.

 • 07.11.2004 10:22 AM PDT

Halo's effective pulse radius is only 25 thousand light years... not enough to cover the entire galaxy. For this reason, multiple Halos where built to cover the entire galaxy.

That's precisely my point, there are no mentions of it because they haven't been found, and 343 wasn't asked about any other reasons so there was no reason for him to talk about them.

If that part is true, then I am indeed wrong. I just couldn't remember them specifically referring to it as a Halo.

I'm just saying, why would you need multiple Halos to study and contain the flood, that just multiplies the places which you would have to have such a terrible thing. Why wouldn't you just make one isolated facility to study them and put them all in one place, and then build however many other facilities that are specifically going to fire whatever it is that neutralizes the galaxy.

They said ringworlds I believe....even though halo is NOT technically a ringworld...

and they dont need multiple facilitys to contain the flood really, one ring is more than enough to wipe all of em out believe me... they built the ohers as redundencies and backups but I am willing to bet they contain other nastys..
