think of the MC as a Navy SEAL, More bad@$$ than most marines, but still a Navy-man.
Exactly!

Does anyone realize that a possible reason he's called Master Chief is because he was the highest ranked in the Spartan project? Petty Officer in the Navy, sure. Master Chief of the Spartans.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the Marines part of the Navy?

So then MC would be Navy either way.

This is a little confusing, but not all marines are part of the Navy (some are though)

Just so you know,Geronimo, if you calla a marine a sailer to his/her face, you would probably walk away with a few less teeth.

Desolation- All marines are part of the Navy but not all are stationed on ships or naval bases, they have their own bases but they dont have medical units, the Navy takes care of that aspect.

What was this "Member Since: 7/9/2004" for? If your trying to say that I havent been a member long, then thats not true. Look at my sig, haloruler33 was my previous account name, I just decided to make another one (so it makes me seem like a "N" word, but am actually not)

No, we dont need to ask a mod. Everything I said was right. You want proof for yourself then read the Halo novels. It clearly states he is part of the Navy.

Dude, I just said he was part of the navy..

anyways.. about the marines, as far as I know the marines ARE a faction based from the Navy, but are their own military section of the armed forces. I mean come on.. if they were a part of the navy, how come they have their own official song and not share the navy's song?

If he was in the navy, he would be called Cheif Master, not master cheif.

uh noo, who told u this. that has to be the second dumbest
thing i have heard someone say since well idonno.

Ummm, yes, because his rank would be Cheif Master Sergeant of the Navy. This is said Cheif Master for short. I have already asked 2 people i know who have been in the Military.

Edit: Sorry, this may be wrong for Navy, but this is the rank in Airforce, so i assumed they were shortened in the same way. The airforce rank would be said Cheif Master

On a slightly different not: Is there an Army anymore in the Halo universe? It seems like everything is Navy and Marines.

The Navy and Marine Corp. were not always attached as they are now. Both services cherish thier traditions heavily and the Navy won't take away Marine Corp. traditions 'cause thats just jacked-up.
In space an army becomes obsolete, or at least thats the way it seems in Sci-fi.

Thats entirely wrong. It is "Master Chief". My dad is the same rank (Navy). BTW, "Sergeant" is not something used in the Navy either.

Are you trying to say that the Spartans are a different branch of the military? That's unlikely, Spartans are more like special forces. The SEALS aren't a separate branch, they're just the special forces of the Navy.

And as i said in the edit, i'm thinking of the Airforce, not Navy. I said i was wrong already.
