This is regarding the time that GS 343 tells the Master chief to upgrade to a class twelve exosuit before continuing (he calls the mjonlir a class 2)--now I'm curious. What, exactly, would a suit six times stronger than the MC's be like? Personally, I think it either A) has a few of those big Magnetic Accelerator Cannon dohickers strapped on to it or it B) is so big and beefy that one look induces cardiac arrest in 99% of viewers--the extra 1% spend the rest of their days in a mental hospital curled into a fetal position, occasionally mumbling the word "teeth" before their thumb goes back in their mouth.

Anyways, that's my 2 cents--anyone else have a theory? 'member this can be as funkafied as humanly possible--laws of the universe need not apply.

oh, before i forget, does anyone know if GS said "upgrade TO a class 12..." or "upgrade to AT LEAST a class 12"? cuz if he said AT LEAST, then that means there's 13+ class suits....

Pretty sure he said "At least" to...

Yes, there are battle suits (if you call em that) out there that are prolly 6x stronger than the Mjolnir, but we won't see em...

Those Forerunners really know how to make their battle armor.

My thumbsticks will be your Doom.... sorry 'bout that.
My Stats

This is probably better suited under the "Are the Forunners Extinct?" thread but this sorta relates...
Interesting you should bring this 343 GS quote up. I've been dreaming way too much about Halo and Halo 2 and the whole Halo universe for that matter -and when i woke up this morning a couple of in-game-quotes plus some stuff from the books (especially from 'First Strike") really started to take some sorta shape.
First, there is the 343 GS qote on 'The Maw' when he's tapped into Cortana's data array and says something like "...look at all these records of OUR lost time. Human history is it?... ". Second, there is the 343 GS reference to the Master Cheifs armor not being of a high enough class to handle the Flood, that he has a class 2 or 3 and he needs atleast a class 12.
Third, there are tidbits in the book "First Strike" that will help tie together what I'm getting at.
When Cortana strips to pieces the Covenant AI aboard the captured Covenant ship, she gets to the core of the code and it looks stangely familiar infact it looks alot like hersefl but she doesn't have time to pursue the matter or something. This is also a lot like all the strange familiarities that the Spartans have with Covenant technology and i think some Marines and Dr. Halsey experince this too. When Cortana de-bugs the Covie ship she is able to translate Covie speak a lot better. She then hears the Covenant talk about "the Giant's crystal" on Reach and how the "infidels will not taint it's shine..." or something like that (sorry the quotes may not be exact). This obviously all pretains to the rescue mission and escape with the strange crystal (all in the book "First Strike").
Now as far as some of the "Are the Forunners Extinct?" theories that involved time travel, I was a bit skeptical cause i never heard before of time travel in the Halo universe but when going back over "First Strike" and this mysterious crystal there is some confusion between Dr.Halsey and Cortana about how much time had elapsed during the Master Cheifs little stint on Halo (a tale which we all know and love deeply I'm sure) and how much time from the Fall of Reach and the rescue in "First Strike". In short, they conclude that the crystal has some weird time altering property and that might be why the Covenant had wanted it so bad.
So, how does all this relate to the Master Cheif's level 12 and up MJLONIR? Well suppose the Forunners are Human, maybe not exactly -blam!--sapien but some distant relative race. Suppose they had enough time to develope further armor classes strong enough to deal with their future threats (i.e. The Flood). Suppose the armor wasn't exactly armor but more like a Mech Suit (think of it? what could be 10 times more advacnced than the MJLONIR II?) that is tapped into the pseudo-human so that they are essentially "wearing" the Mech. These Mech-Suits could do all sorts of things. Like kick some serious Flood around the galaxy, construct super ring-worlds to maintain the flood and send them back in time, or to preserve them for eons to come or at the very least make the Forunners seem like Giants!!! The ovbvious inclination to tie the Forruners and their stolen-by-the-Covenant technology to humans stems from the nagging familiarity that humans have with it, and the overtly obvious statment by 343 Guilty Spark --the keeper of Halo and servant of the Forunners "...of our lost time..."

In response to the theory by Doom Sticks...
FINALLY. There are people who understand stuff. I love this forum, but anyway, this is what I think about the whole Forerunner thing: They were humans. Everyone knows that, but it just has to be said. They had evolved so far mentally and technologically that their mind set was completely different then ours. They were prolly extreme conservists. That's why they kept the Flood alive, even though they were so dangerous. Making up for all the extinction they may have caused developing their new tech stuff, they wanted to keep at least a sample of everything intact. They were prolly spread all over the universe and did this with not only the Flood...but with the Covenant too. How else would so many strange races have been grouped together? How would they speak the same? Act the same? Have the same ability to comprehend? They were probably kept in an installation very much like the one the Flood were in, only observing the Forerunners. The Covenant may not have been advanced, maybe only cavemen on our scale. Then something went wrong. The Flood escaped. To combat it, maybe all of the Forerunners were sent back to the containment galaxy of the Flood. Our galaxy. The installations activated. The original Reclaimer knew his duty (Why would you fail to do what you have ALREADY done Reclaimer? 343 GS). All of the Forerunners were wiped out. The Covenant escaped from their abandoned holding center and lived and developed in a different galaxy. They collected the remnants of the Forerunner society, and eventually the tales of who the Forerunner really were may have been so warped and full of honorifics that no one recognized them when they first made contact with the humans. This is my theory. And I think it works. Because the Covenant will win unless it is revealed that they have been killing their own gods all along. That's the only way I can see the war stopping peacefully. Thank you for your time and literacy. Please do not yell at me for my crazy theories, I get enough of that at home.

grrr i just wrote a really long and detailed response both commending and agreeing with all good points made above and disagreeing and disputing all that (i think) are wrong. but there was an error in submitting it and i cant recover the page, so screw it im summerizing.

mechs--cool, but why havent covies imitated? possibly havent found, possibly have but cant reproduce design (which means they have a few--boss battle?)

ai nemesis--lot o good points, but i disagree with the part about the frs grouping the covenant together. most likely the prophets conquered allied one race, then used it to assimilate every race they could find. possiblity that they want to assimilate humans, but questionable due to that whole "THE GODS HAVE COMMANDED YOUR DESTRUCTION, WE ARE THEIR TOOL" mumbo jumbo.

there. thats about two thousand chars short of my original response, but what the heck.
