I just signed on today and checked my PMs seeing that one of my members to my group has notified me that someone hacked my group and banned all of my members. I asked him if he knows the guys user name, but I have to get this out to the mods. It possible could've have been one of my mods, but I trusted them all and would never think they'd do something like this. I know that Bungie.net is not held liable to these actions, but help from mods would be much appreciated. I already PMed Recon and hopefully he's seen it or will see it soon. In the mean time, I'm waiting for a Pm back from that member that told me about it. For all the people that were in my group, do you have any idea who may have done this?

I just found out the guy said he was booted by a member called anynonmous. That must mean he either got in by one of my mods or he's a hacker. At least none of my mods is acutally directly associate, yet...

Contacting the global moderators will help nothing. Your group is your responsibility -- if someone obtained priveleges they shouldn't have had, it's your fault. No one can do anything about it.

I didn't give anyone full control and the mods only had temporary blacklisting powers anyway. This, anonymous guy came out of nowhere. It wasn't one of my mods, it had to have been some hacker.

 • 04.21.2005 4:55 PM PDT

It'll be someone either you or someone else with Full Control gave Full Control powers to. Like you said, we have no power over the groups, and therefore can do nothing.

I hope this teaches you a lesson in giving out Full Control priviliges, or rather not giving Full Control to ANYONE.

However, if you're absolutely sure that you didn't accidentally give anyone else Full Control then you should e-mail bnetbugs@microsoft.com.

That's precisely what I did! I am the only one in my group that has full control! There was my security roll, then the mods who could only temporary blacklist! Some guy hacked my damn group. Oh, and I think this is an appropriate place to post because finding bastards like this and banning them would help improve the 7th column. Technically it's not my fault so stop blaming me, I'm not that stupid.

Oh my god are you guys just ignoring my damn posts?!?!??! I DIDN'T GIVE ANYONE FULL CONTROL OF MY GROUP! WHAT KIND OF IDIOT DOES THAT? Get that through your heads! It's not my -blam!- fault!

Right, so blame it on the hackers. Either way, no one here can do anything about it. Follow goweb's instructions if you're still seething.

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

Except that your Role "Recruiter Guy" has the ability to blacklist people, to tempban people, to kick members from your group, and to add members.

Seems to me that whoever was in that role is the reason your members were kicked, assuming you're talking about "Your Mom Inc.".

So it wasn't "hacked" - someone granted a powerful security role to someone who shouldn't have been trusted.

In the future, I suggest you not start spouting off about hackers unless you really understand how security privs are assigned.

I guess thank you for your advice, if this happens again I won't waste your precious time by making a thread.

You know, even if they wanted 2 help there wouldnt be much they could do. WHoever this hacker is he prolly has multiple accounts with different info on each of them, making it impossible to ban him in that form....

Did they blacklist everyone or kick them?

If they blacklisted them just edit the blacklist time so that it ends soon.

In response to that PM lellow, Achronos summed it up. Never trust a stranger on the Internet, no matter how well you think you know them. The groups at Bungie.net are set up very simple, and your "hack" was nothing more than somebody given too much power, doing too many things

What he said, unless you know them in person and where they live and where they work. Then you can take revenge into your own hands.

*Evil laugh*

Seriously, i am glad you brought this to my attention. It's made me re-think the permissions i give to others.

Also, there are some horrible people around. I've even seen a thread in which someone was advertising their services to take over any chapter!

your precious time
Let's see, Achronos works for a living. He deals with no less than 10 PMs a day I'm sure, all from people who are angry about one thing or another. I do believe that qualifies his time as more precious than yours. So don't go spouting off sarcastic comments to the guy that practically made this site.

Ass.

Note: Please disreguard this post if your comment was somehow not meant to be sarcastic.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

No, i woulnt yell at this guy, The mods tend to bring out the mean side of people. I have had an argument or 2 with shishka just from his sarcastic remarks
