I've noticed this for a long time now but decided with the help of Yoozel, to post this. Has anyone noticed that there are two different types of grunt methane tanks? One of them sticks out straight and has a point at the end and the other curves up with a rounded tip. Also There are two different types of grunt masks look here and see http://nikon.bungie.org/screenshots/actionvault.012604/halo04 012610.jpg

Hmmm... Very observant.

I had never noticed the two types of masks and tanks. Besides the tank's different colors.

I noticed that too, I think it's just to add some variety but I may be wrong. Maybe the ugly grunts have to wear those masks, lol.

Kind of off topic, but I was surprised when I found the sleeping hunters on AotCR. I wonder why they were sleeping? It seems to me a kind of stupid thing to do, something only grunts would be capable of.

First of all Hunters sleeping? Okay next, The elites heads aren't different, it's their helmets. The gold, Spec op, and invisible are higher ranked so they wear those helmets with the points sticking out. Next the jakals don't all wear helmets the ones without helmets have feathery arms and a feathery head, The feathers either mean gender or what I think is that it means they're commander jakals.

The Elites and Jackals also have different helmets.

Firstly, Jackals don't necessarily have helmets. If they have anything on their face at all, it is armor (the same that is on the rest of their body). Doesn't it say in the Halo book (the manual that comes with the game) that the difference between Jackals suggests which region the creature comes from.

The differences in Jackals are:
* Some have pointy, beak-like mouths while some have normal (when compared with the shape of the head), curved mouths.
* Some are bald, while some have a mohawk of hair or feathers
* Different coloured hair/feathers, skin and eyes
* Different coloured energy shield

The higher ranked Elites wear the triple-spiked helmets (Gold and Black) while the lower ranked ones wear the standard issue helmet.

I never really look at them for that long, generally, they last for about 0.7 seconds. That is, unless i' m in a good mood and decide to chase them around for a while first, listening to their cries of help...
