I was just playing AOTCR on my 360. Bungie did an awesome job designing the game so that you can really be creative and try out new strategies. I decided to use the warthog instead of the tank, and it was sweet-tastic. I can't believe I've never done that before.

Yeah. I uh...Guess this topic has no meaning. Maybe some old-school Halo fans will know what I'm talking about. lol

Proud tester of the Halo 3 beta.

I agree! AotCR is the best all-round level of Halo:CE! I like the beach assault more though :p

Yeah, the Warthog run at the end, and the level "Halo" when you drive around a lot is awesome. I'm glad Bungie "remade" the Warthog run in Halo 3.

Can you believe it?

I concur. Assualt on the Control Room is better than any of Halo 3's levels. It's a nice long level. One of my favorite parts was the battle at the end. Covenant Dance FTW! :D

Bungie Pentathlon - who actually cares ?

AotCR is a great level, lots of variety and lots to shoot. One of the best parts is when you assault the control room area.....

If you walk up the large triangel shaped part of the structure, with the platforms either side, you can rain down bullets on any part of it....great fun

The warthog is much faster than the Scorpion. My favorite is catching grunts, jackals and elites in the passageway leading from the structure that contains the active camo and two invisible elites. Bodies flying everywhere!
After that you can squeeze it between the pillars and engage covie -blam!-s on a grand scale before you take your elevator ride up to the sky bridges.

Haha, I haven't tried that. I can never get the durned thing through the doors!

All great trilogies end in fives.

AotCR and Two Betrayals were the best Halo levels of all time.

So many ways to play the game. What happened?

I prefer The Covenant and Uprising as far as sneaking and gunning goes, bit this level is very fun.

Nope, the gaming gene-pool became too diluted and as a result Halo got watered down to suit its needs

No. It's not that dumbed down.

Open your eyes. Legendary has just become a punishment, not about playing better anymore. Multiplayer isn't about tactics, it's about which players have faster reflexes now. Most that was great with the Gameplay about CE has been watered down like the Shotgun in Halo 2.

I once challenged myself to play the entire game without any vehicles (except for the last segment of the Maw, it's like...sort of compulsory).

AotCR and Two Betrayals are definitely my favourite levels for pure kick-ass adventuring. Really gives you an idea of scale in Halo.

It's... uneven. Half of it is the best sandbox environment of Halo 1. Half of it is killing the same covenant in the same circular gray rooms. Among the top 5 of this game, but not standing above them nor coming close to competing the series top 5.

I'll admit the gray rooms are annoying, but most levels of CE have some room that shows up a thousand times, so no biggie for me.

I actually don't notice the repetitive rooms. I'm too happy fighting the enemies they spent the time working on, rather than environments, to give that major criticism.

i wish they had done more levels like AOTCR in halo 3 i loved the last level in halo 3 when it looks like AOTCR .... oh well

I think what can help separate the circular room repetitiveness are the numerous ways you can go about taking them on. For the first half i usually gun my way through, but for the last half when you get off the tank i find using stealth is a lot more fun. Try to beat all of them without firing one round. If you can time the patrol movements properly you can do it but it's pretty tough.
