Oh, I know I have one of the fastest modems you can get, and yet I still don't get host, which makes my game lag like none other. My upload is about 2-5 mbs, and download is 15 mbs. So basically I have a T1-T3 modem. I used to get host a lot before you screwed up the system and made everything suck.
Hahaha :-) That has to be the funniest thing so far in this thread. First thing's first. Bandwidth is not necessarily an indication of latency. You can sit on an OC-48 to the internet and still have bad latency if you're behind a congested router.
Second. Holy crap dude. What is a T1-T3 Modem? :-) The two connection mediums you referenced are business-class dedicated circuits. A T1, or DS1 is a 1.544mbps full-duplex circuit. They are expensive, often over $1000 per month.
A T3 or DS3 is another business-class circuit that carries 28 DS1's. It is 43.232mbps, full duplex. It costs a lot. You don't have a T1 or a T3, or anything similar.
I'm guessing you have a cable modem and service from your cable company - or perhaps a throttled form of VDSL. In either case, it doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is the latency between you, and other people. Lots of bandwidth is not something you need to have a "good" connection on Xbox live. Low latency is.
I suggest that if you are experiencing increased latency on your residential service that you contact your ISP and try to find out why. If you have a cable modem, it may be because your next door neighbor is downloading a whole lot of -blam!-. In which case you should visit him and find out if it's good -blam!-.
