(This is a strange post, if I do say so myself. I posted it in a private group as an entry for a contest, and was told it would be a good idea to post it here too. What do you think?)
Over the years, video games have become a greater part of our lives. With technologies becoming ever more amazing, it could be any matter of time before we end up with huge robotic suits of armour, and light assault vehicles with large machine turrets on the rear...
What few people do nowadays, is look back. However, we're not a part of those few, are we? Halo: CE marked a new era for gamers, including myself, but it brought a number of feelings out that other games had otherwise failed to achieve. I remember playing Crash Bandicoot for many years, before finally settling for the good old chunk of an Xbox.
My sole game was Halo - nothing more, nothing less. As a child of a very young age, I was easily scared of the Flood, asking my parents to help me through the Flood-infested levels, or hiding behind a cushion when I heard the evil roar of an infected form...
What I am trying to summarise for you, is the effect Halo has had on our lives. Think about it: would you be here right now (on the forums =P) if not for Halo? Was it Halo 2, perhaps, that won you over? There is little I can say to describe the feeling of completing Halo on Legendary, along with the tears of anger and joy that have been shed on the great journey.
Thank you for reading this, and I hope now that you understand why I, Dropship dude, am a life-less fan of one of the greatest games ever.
To Halo.
