first, service pack 2's removal tool is in the add/remove programs. You should also remove any other microsoft games u have on ur PC. When you removed sp2(service pack 2), uninstall halo, then reinstall halo. Note: You need the cd key for this. Then , download the 1.06 patch to fix it up. Good Luck

Ok, i just removed it. Im about to uninstall and reinstall Halo PC. But one thing, what were those other files that you deleted that began with k89, and where are they, so i can delete them also.

It still doesn't work. I am getting so tired of this -blam!-. Thanks for your concern, but I guess I just have really bad luck. Maybe I need to delete those kb89 files or whatever they're called. If you deleted them then I probably should also. Should I delete them and where are they located?

I have tried everything on there and it still won't work. I hate this so much. All I want to do is play a game that I paid for but I guess that's too much to ask for. Why does this happen to me? Sorry, im just mad.

Do you guys think I should return Halo PC and buy Half-Life 2, or should I continue to try to fix this crap problem with this game? I'm leaning toward the HL2 idea.

Dumb microsoft, and idiotic bungie made halo PC full of problems. H2 is much more able to run than Halo. Give up on halo. You'll just be bored trying to fix it.
By the way, halo is not returnable.

By the way: Heres a present for u:
found it in the internet (By the way, its not me)

By the way, fdx whatever you do, do NOT click the Link in my sig labeled Check it OUt funny. (its not bad just funny/annoying)

Lol, nice one. Yeah, it's just too bad that I can't get Halo PC to run right. Oh well, what can I do about it? The way that I can return it is that I take the opened one that I currently have and take it back to walmart, and tell them that it wont run. So, they give me a new copy. I then take that new copy that is unopened to another walmart and recieve a full refund. Pretty cool, huh? Sneaky, but cool. Anyways thanks for all of the help that you and everyone else have given me. Half-Life 2, here I come!!!!! (i will still visit these forums)

You seem to have an isolated problem. I don't think we have heard of it on the maw. The last thing you should do is do a complete reinstall of XP. Ya never know what might happen if you do that. If you do do that, back everything up. If thats not an option, get HL2.

I don't know anything about backing up files or anything like that, so I don't think that I could do that without messing something up.

If you have a CD burner, just burn all you program files and my documents onto cd's. When you reinstall windows, just copy and paste them back into their rightful place.

Yes, use nero. Nero Burning Rom. may be a little difficulkt for you, but read the readme file. But..........., you have toi activate the first boot device in BIOS, then select a file sorting system, and create a new partition. It takes about 2 days, if your good at it. Basically, you delete everything in your HD, and welllll............. thats it.

Sigh just get HL2.

Wow, considering that i'm not that good with computers, I will definitely accidently fu(k something up for sure. I really wish that I could play Halo PC, but I can't. I'll just probably get Half-Life 2. Too bad you guys don't play it =-( HL2 looks awesome, but it's just not the same as Halo PC.
Oh, by the way, if any of you guys ever wanna play HL2 DM or Counter-Strike: Source, PM me, cause I still come here for the Zanzibar forums.

Actually, I have decided not to quit just yet. As soon as I can, I am gonna buy a new graphics card and 512MB of RAM (which kind should I get?) and see if that fixes the problem. After playing Blood Gulch on the demo I have realized that i'm just too hooked to stop just like that. So wish me luck that this will sork

It will sork for sure! I play Half life 2. Not counter strike though, cause its not that great. I much prefer deathmatch or Halo. For the ram, if your not too picky on specs and stuff, go with kingston. You can find them anywhere and they make quality ram.

Dude, what are you on, coz I'd like some myself I think! It does NOT take two days to format your hard drive and reinstall WindowsXP... If it takes you that long, you are doing something wrong! I format mine on a regular basis and it takes me two HOURS before I've reinstalled Windows, my network, SP2 and have a fully functional internet connection (or if I cheat, 20 mins using Acronis).

Secondly, 'get HL2 instead' is not an answer...

I still firmly believe that the RAM is the issue, or there is a spyware/ virus problem. What anti virus software do you use, have you run Spyboy S&D and, just out of curiosity, what is your virtual memory set to? You can check it by going Start, Control Panel, System (in classic view), Advanced, Settings on Performance and then Advanced again. You will see 'Virtual Memory at the bottom. If, like you say, you have 256mb RAM it should read 512mb... If not, change it! Upper limit should be twice your installed ram, and the lower limit should be your RAM plus half again.

Any good to you?...

Well, right now I have 256MB of ram and my virtual memory is currently set at 384MB. Should I change it higher? If so, how high?

Set the high limit to twice your actual RAM, and the lower limit to one and a half times...
