Subject: The Truth about Halo and its effect.

This, I hope, will be an informative and deeply engaging read for both the players of Halo, and those involved in its creation.

First, I'd like to complain a little. Not about any of the Halo games produced by Bungie, but about the lack of acknowledgement that most of us in the Gallery forum receive.
Now obviously a lot of the Bungie staff are, understandably, busy with the ODST project and anything else that is currently in the pipeline. So I can appreciate that most of you (Bungie) are unable to enjoy the luxury of drifting through the forums, answering threads or simply contributing to a chosen discussion, but what you have to understand is that us Gallery folk are a little more devoted than the regular sea of fans that you already have.

Most people that post in the Halo 3 forum (the most popular forum at the moment) are regular gamers. Now I'm not having go at regular gamers, but most, if not all, of their threads are filled with "Help get me to lvl 50" or "what's better, a sniper rifle or a banana?"
These are community members that buy Halo, play Halo, try to rank up in matches and then carry on with their life in general. We in the Gallery forum go that little bit further.
We envelope ourselves and our readers in fan fiction, or spend hours or even days creating unique and beautiful images. Machinima also gets a look in, but is most often produced and kept within various groups.

For me I have personally been writing a Halo based piece of fan fiction for almost a year. And yet, despite numerous attempts, I have been unable to get this or any other fanfic on the Bungie news section.
Halo is very different to every other first person shooter. It has amazing game play, environments that you can completely immerse yourself in and dense storyline that no other game can match. We take all of that on board and expand the universe a little bit more.

While the modern gamer might finish the fight, we stay up, writing, drawing, creating and fighting some more.

So please Bungie, give us the recognition that we deserve.

More to come...

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Most enlightening and I completely agree, whilst we must appreciate Bungie for everything they've given us it seems when we give something back it is usually cast aside.
I've been writing for about 2 years now, long time and I started posting fan fiction about nine months ago.

You must understand that there is a smaller percentage of those who appreciate the game for the plot rather than those who appreciate it for the gameplay/multiplayer. Recognition is nice, but unnecessary, continue writing for your pleasure and not the sake of others.

I agree, they can't be that busy, I see Shishka posting in the Halo 3 forum usually every day. I sent a message to them a while back, but all I recieved was an automated reply. And to the person above, we writers love it when we see a new reply on our stories, even if we already have a thousand of them, it just makes us happy, lets us know that our time we are devoting isn't wasted.

Your time isn't wasted, what's the difference between one reply to one-thousand replies? It's conceptual, and shows the human need for acknowledgment, but one reply alone should be satisfactory enough to please even the most amateur writers or artists. This is my opinion and surely it's different from yours, but you all should be happy that there are some followers even if you can't count them on one hand your work is being noticed, just not by the people you want to notice it.

I'm not doubting their amazing creativity, I love their stories, especially Max's. I just don't feel recognition should be requested or hinted at, it will get it when it's time comes. Patience is key.
You also have to look at the fanbase of Halo, relatively young, whom probably don't read often are definitely more visual then imaginative. Like I said before, respect the praise you have received rather than the size of it.

You misunderstood me. I meant that I appeciate every reply, no matter how many I already have. Just forget it, I guess it came out wrong.

Either way there is a fan base for all of your fan fiction, myself included, whether it be small or large.
