Last year there were the "what is better, Halo or Marathon?" and now they have become "Halo 1 or 2?"
My answer for the old question is the same it is for the new one.
Why would you ask a parent which of their beloved children is "better" than the others? Or, which of your legs are better than the other? As if picking one to be "better" makes the other one less valid or less enjoyed.
Pointless if you ask me.
Yeah, were are you when they start those "rate the whatever of the person above you"? ROFL
I think the update has made HUGE improvements to Halo 2, but I still think Halo CE was better. Some of them are for reasons that really have nothing to do with the game itself. Playing online can be a huge chore. I really think they should just hide the stats to stop all this BS that goes on. Were there glitches and exploits in Halo CE? Sure, but most people didn't see the need to use them like they do now. I've played tens of thousands of Halo CE games and ran into cheats, glitchers and modded boxes maybe 10 times. That also includes people getting out of the map (one game of Sidewinder comes to mind...lol). But, you just flat out didn't see these problems before the ranking system.
I still think the gap between the power weapons and normal weapons is still a tad too large. Nothing is more frustrating than a sniper standing out in the open with no fear. At least in Halo CE you had to keep on the move and watch your ass better. None of that go hide somewhere untill someone comes into view. You may get one of us, but now I know where you are and have a weapon (pistol) that I can counter you with. Plus you could dodge sniper fire much easier. I would just run around in the middle of a map drawing fire, then dodge until they ran out of ammo. Can't do that with pros of course, but you get the point.
I also think not having the power weapons respawn is a huge mistake. Can the other team then ALL have snipers or rockets? Sure, but it still gives you a better chance. I am making a huge assumption, but I think Bungie did it this way to keep people from using timers to catch the power weapons (I hate that, it's like any other form of cheating in my book). Only problem is it makes things worse instead of better.
