I would have said that Halo 3 was my favorite but upon the 360 breaking I headed back down stairs to play the Xbox. I then went back to Halo CE and to my surprise I loved it once again going back to the once favored landscapes and replayed the game. So I know have to say that Halo CE my favorite because it recaptured all that I had forgotten.

R.I.P. Halo 2

Halo 1. The other two are very good, but would have been better if they were more like Halo 1, instead of completely changing the physics engine and stuff.

Halo 3 is epic.
Halo 2 is more epic.
Halo: CE is out of this universe.

I still have to disagree when it comes to Halo 2. IMO, Gameplay was stale, has little replayability, and multiplayer was inferior.

Halo 2 had its faults, after the initial pant wetting opening levels of the campaign and a quick blast around the MM maps you did feel that it was a bit of a rush job, especially after the pop-up of some of the textures and the "I have been here before, but not quite" feel of the gameplay...

Now, the problem is that if they had kept Halo 2, looking and feeling exactly like Halo CE then Bungie would have been criticised for not bringing the series along technically....so either way Halo 2 was always heading for a fall....especially after the funktacular Halo CE

Personally, I don't feel that getting a new game engine did anything to help Halo 2 or the series. All it did really was change what made CE great: health for tactical thinking, balanced weapons, character looks, etc.

And really, the gameplay and environment suffers for it. With CE, all the outdoor textures looked slightly different, and the terrain changed visibly. They may have reused parts, but at least they dressed it up accordingly before the game went Gold.

I think that halo 3 is just good because its up to date. However it does touch on some of the more..... classic moments that halo CE brought us. for example 345 betraying us again or your connection to Cortana. But after saying that Halo: CE is my favorite just because of the memories, huge amounts of ammo, undesirable vehicles, and the twists and turns the story takes.(even though i see them coming now....... oh the memories) =]

Yeah I do not think that the new engine worked exactly how Bungie would of hoped, texture pop ups and a complete move away from the moody yet vibrant style of Halo CE. I am of the opinion they should of held back the new engine, for a more powerful operating system to utilise, and kept the same feel as the original Xbox was pushed to its limits by Halo2

All in all I feel that Halo 2 was a little rush-rush for my liking.....and will never forgive Bungie for leaving out the unfinished New Mombassa level demo....although Halo CE was rushed it still felt more solid and more complete than any of its follow ups

That's because they focused on the Campaign first, and only then did the main focus turn to multiplayer. In Halo 2, they focused on Multiplayer, and tacked on a Campaign, similar to Halo 3.

It's interesting how that worked out for them.

I think it worked well for H3. But the campaign was one of the only things I liked in H2.

I only play Halo 2 because it has the best Legendary moment: Sniper Alley.

It still confuses me as to what people find so hard about that part; I for one find it quite enjoyable. It takes me about one and a half hours to complete it without dying but hey, each to their own.

RIP Halo 2

I think Halo CE campaign is probably the best and most memorable campaign I've ever played. And then Halo 2 multiplayer is probably the most fun I've ever had with a game. Obviously XBL helped a lot. I honestly love Halo CE and Halo 2 at an equal level.

Halo 3 is just kind of there. One of my favorite games, but doesn't even compare to the other two.

Yeah, they seem to have hijacked the bandwagon.
