Allow me introduce myself the names ow3nd and that’s not what I am it’s what I do. First off I’m not a noob to this site I’ve been coming to site for more than 2 years now. I just couldn’t figure out how to sign up :( Any how it wasn’t until I began reading the humans as Forerunner theories that I began to think up what is quite possibly the most overwrought theory ever. So let’s begin this a bit long winded though. The forerunners were all a bunch of brains. We get that but what happened to them? The first theory states that the flood got to them. The second theory was that they were wiped out when the halos were fired. The third states that they simply upped and left. And the fourth and most outlandish states that they are in fact the humans!! It is far fetched but not far off. Here’s what I conceived to be the history of the forerunner. Like the ancient Athenians the forerunners were a utopian society that valued knowledge above all else. They empires stretched across the endless expanse of space there technology second to none. They were seen as gods “younger” species such as the prophets whose planets they’ve the adorned with there great monuments. But even they had there enemies (and this may sound entirely outlandish) the brutes. The brutes were diametrically opposed to forerunners in every plausible way like the “Ancient Spartans to the Athenians”. While the Brutes had the brawn they were sadly outmatched in the brain category. One insufferable loss after another they decided to play there game and unleash there own creation the Flood. Think about it the flood is the ultimate biological weapon smart, adaptive, and highly contagious. Plus it was mentioned they did share a “special bond” and doubt there one more special. Any how the Brutes who were immune to the effects of the flood let them loose upon the unaware forerunner. Being the overconfident type they refused to realize the true threat the flood posed. Instead of eradicating them they intended to use the flood as a way to better themselves. What did they have to fear from a race so primitive? Then began to outbreak and the forerunners were nearly wiped out. Using what resources they had they began to create the great containment protocol firstly the creation of the great ring worlds which contain, study, and prevent the spread of the flood. They also created the reclaimers and the monitors. I know everyone believes that 343 guilty spark is malfunctioning but he is a forerunner creation and I believe that he is following his orders to the last letter. The reclaimers were in a sense the progenitors to the current crop of Spartans. They where much more advanced than the current crop of Spartans with much better weaponry for suppressing the flood forms. There job enter the heart of the halos and activate them. This would explain his “familiarity” with his armor and why he told him to upgrade. With the situation spiraling out of hand the decided to they should abandon there empires and leave for greener pastures to avoid the full effect of the rings. There destination an outer colony in which was just happens to be a little blue planet capable of sustaining there life for the next eon or so. Taking with them there greatest secret!! This secret just happened to be buried on earth. But one more thing had to be done they knew that there weapon was going to kill anything with sufficient biomass to sustain flood. The solution de-evolution all the way back to a more basic form. It was unthinkable but it had to be done. But before they de-evolved they wrote every last bit of there knowledge into there genetic information. This would explain the latter creation of the Spartans among other things. Knowing of the forerunners plans the brutes followed suite with the own de-evolution the flood wasn’t a problem, but the rings were. The halos were activated the flood was starved to death and what was left was to be studied until the forerunner returned. Fast forward into the future and behold the prophets who had spent the better part of that time trying to uncover the mystery of the forerunner. For them there words had become a religion and forerunner where there gods. With designs in mind of becoming gods themselves they enlisted the help of the elites the engineers and the other collective species that would become the covenant. While one the other side of the universe the humans (forerunner) had matured to the point where they could begin retaking the lost empire. This of course is all unknown to them because the genetic manipulation didn’t exactly go as planned and the knowledge was lost over time. They remembered nothing not even the secret buried on earth in Africa (“the birth place of humanity” look it up). While the knowledge wasn’t lost we have know real ideas on what we are. The brutes transition was a lot smother due to there um lower lever of evolution but time had ravaged all they had built. This is I believe is where the covenant comes in an unassuming set of wannabe ruler who just happens to have what the want, forerunner technology. While for the covenant it seemed too good to be true to have this seemingly perfect tool. It will be a case of the user who eventually gets used. But during all this was the covenants first encounter with the humans. Know while to many all of this may have seemed pretty unremarkable just think about. You’re the covenant who’s been spent ages uncovering the secret of the lost masters. And of sudden following the information you had gathered you encounter a race inhabiting territory previously inhabited by forerunner that look a lot like the forerunner. But they are now where near as advanced as the original. This obviously led to the wanton destruction of humanity. Reach may have a lot of things but things but I believe it be much like earth an outpost we forgot we had before. And every colony created in that time period has something to do with the past. So the genetic programming is acting itself out. Halo I believe was the brutes first move to recover there perfect weapon the flood. This is taking into account guilty sparks comment on that “other race”. Remember that Captain Keyes was looking for a cache of weapons and where did they get that information? The covenant of course who I believe got there not too exact information from the brutes. So it’s all a matter of history repeating itself and covenant may find themselves caus in the middle. The reason I believe earth was found was because the covenant backtracked the information left behind by the forerunners. And now I as tired of writing as you are of reading. I know there plot holes to fill but I just don’t have the time. Just use the imagination that TV hasn’t robbed you of.

Thats a lot of crap to read.

1) I don't think you can call your own post the best speculation/post ever, maybe after someone says it out of the blue, and is then seconded it could be called that. But you just can't call it yourself. Your too opinionated on the quality of your own posts. Same goes for people who make a comeback and say ownage or somthing like that in the same post, right after the comeback.

Wow... long... post... I'm too lazy too read that... but anyway, it is good to see a thread on this not posted by chaplain for once...

At least this thread wasn't named: "the even moster conclusiver theory more conclusive than the most conclusive theory"

ok... so it is far fetched but very in depth and i wouldnt be too surprised if that really was the answer to the human/forerunner relationship, but what of the rocks on Sigma Octinus IV why where they left there instead of on Earth? i like how you think, but we can only wait... for Halo 3 (j/k)

Nice theory. I have one similar to yours, in part where the Forerunner were Humans and that the Covenant were present in some amass.

Here's my theory.

The Human Covenant war stands on the brink of it's finale. Covenant forces are almost no match for the Human's superior numbers and technology. However, the Covenant divise a plan to turn the tides of the war. They develope or locate a species known as the Flood and research it for weaponry purposes.

Eventually they release the Flood intentionally or unintentionally and are wiped out : survived somehow by descendants far away and safe from the Halos. The Humans have a difficult time containing the Flood but manage to build the Halo installations for research. The outbreak, however, surges even stronger and the Humans are forced to use their only weapon against the Flood.

What of their population can retreat to the Halos where I suppose they are safe from the blast. The Halo is initiated and species able to sustain the Flood are killed. Humans remain on Halo until the Flood is completely diminished they leave behind their Flood research on Halo and take flight in some sort of colony ship to find habitable worlds. They stumble across many along the way to Earth, erecting their unique architecture and printings: tracing themselves along worlds.

They eventually find Earth, but I can only guess a catastrophy occured that start the human process over. Humans later emerge in another interstellar empire, unaware of their former disbandment. Once again at a sentient point in their existence, they reencounter the Covenant. The Covenant, I think, do not repeat they're history but recruit more to their cause and raid former technologies of their enemies. They may have found old traces of their enemies and are still bent on their genocidal tendencies.

They Human/Covenant war begins again and the Covenant are adamant not to let the Humans rediscover their lost artifacts. I don't think the Covenant revere the Forerunners, but revere what had happened to them, claiming that the Gods had destroyed the Forerunners and that what was left behind was a gift for their cause. I think that is why Covenant consider it blasphomy to tamper with the technology.

99.9% wrong, I'm sure... but a way to look at it. History repeats itself, but in a different pattern. They say the Flood will appear in Halo 2, and I think they are the answer to the conflict. Maybe the Covenant will push the Humans into a tight corner, force them to release the Flood (which would destroy most of the Humans themselves and leave only a little to survive) and cause the Covenant to use the Halos. Repetition in history :d
