I routinely play Halo with my room-mates and the matches are starting to get shorter, the kill counts farther apart. I thought with some experience they would get better, but it seems to be quite the contrary. Matches are habitually ending with scores in the area of 25-(1-5), all in my favor. I try to introduce some game tips to them, but it is sort of hard (yet undeniably funny) to help them. I routinely hear "Oh thats bull, how can you kill me in 3 shots with a Pistol" or "Where did that grenade come from?". Even with the old "quit aiming for me, aim for the feet" line when referring to Rocket Launchers, I still see rockets driving full force towards my head. Does anyone else have this problem also? I told them to try the game on at least Heroic to build their skills but they are convinced just playing me over and over again to the never ending slaughter will give way to improvement. So far, no progress reached. Can someone give me a helping hand so I can lend some pointers to some friends.

Well, if they don't seem to take you seriously and not listen to your tips, you can always refer to the lopsided scores. But there's one hint that I can give you in trying to teach them: you can not teach an unwilling mind. :-)

One of my room-mate swears everytime I shut him out that he won't play me again. Only to play the next day and get ownified to the max. I don't hold back, because I don't want to lose my skills (seems hard though, it comes as naturally as walking at this point). That is how I got my skills. I started the game playing LAN games where more than half the players were veterans (having beaten Legendary countless times each), quickly learning what to do and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, what NOT to do. Now at the LAN parties its a fairly even match, and I am not a running Free Kill anymore (quite the opposite o_O ). Its particularly funny when you play with people you haven't played with in a while and they aren't expecting your improvements. Thats what I want from my room-mates. Doesn't seem likely any time soon.

Guess its time to learn how to tunnel my X-Box.

Depends on how you like to play. For me, when I use Pistols, I stay as far from them as possible and never stop moving. Keep erratic foot movements and jump a lot. Don't ever run straight forward or backward, always go diagonal in a zig-zag motion. When I use the Assault Rifle, its a circle strafe from the start, slowly closing in on the person. Start with a grenade to keep them on their feet and fluster them, than close in on em. Melee as soon as you get in distance then continue firing. Always keep guns loaded and never carry a useless weapon. Rockets, aim for the ground or the wall close to them (depending on the scenario). Jump to get the best angle, unless you are elevated or far away (where they can't quickly get the jump on you). Master crouching too. It may not seem like much, but it will confuse your opponent, as long as you are efficient at keeping the crosshair trained on their head. Never use needlers MP, its just a bad idea. These are a few tips, in the dumbed down form. Most importantly, practice makes perfect. Play through Legendary repeatedly for the most intense practice sessions. With time (and knowledge of the maps), you can't help but get better.

Unless you are my room-mates. /sigh. What can you do? I can't channel my skill into their hands, though it would be fun to play against myself. What better opponent than yourself, eh?

The Needler is a great gun once you know how to use it properly. If you are so good, why not give yourself a challenge and make crazy handicaps.

4 of your flatmates versus you in a Slayer or King of The Hill. Start using weapons you don't usually use. It will improve your all round skill because eventually you will be walking round with the Needler in your palms and dealing kills left right and centre.

A lot of people on this forum use the pistol. Eventually able to do 3 shot kills and so on. Well I wasn't like this until I started handicapping myself. I played 4vs1 matches and began using the Pistol and Needler. Now if I'm in a sticky situation and there's a Needler nearby, I can surprise and kill my enemy with the skill I have with what they think is a 'inferior weapon'.

That actually sounds like a good idea. The 3 shot Pistol kills aren't that hard. Its all about the precision aiming. Plasma pistols are fun too, especially if you have a fast trigger finger. I can shoot a Plasma Pistol faster than the Rifle, making it a deadlier weapon. Sometimes I handicap myself to nothing but this and Melee.

Off-Topic: What do you keep your Sensitivity at? 8 here.

My combo for multiplayer now is a Plasma Pistol and a M6D pistol, it works well for all situations, from medium range sniping to close range melee fights. Also I keep my sensitivity low, (Around 5) because if it's to high my crosshair goes all over the place, and I seem to move and work better all around if I keep the sensitivity low.

Peace

*Edit* I can also fire the Plasma Pistol about as fast as the assualt rifle ;) Very quick. In a multiplayer match, on 100% health, (What me and my friends play on) I can take down a Spartan with two quick bursts from the Plasma Pistol. Woot!

8 Sensitivity, I prefer it higher, because when Im sniping (which I do often) I find it makes it easier to track targets!
Anyway, today Im having an 8 man LAN party and I have someone coming who is quite new to the game, he's coming round early so I can train him up a little, what Im planning to do is set up one on ones where I only use the AR, and he can use whatever he wishes... Hopefully this will get him set up with a favourite combination and the best ways to use certain weapons. Im also hoping it will allow him to stay calm under fire! As I always say
"In battle think fast if you have to, just make sure you think!"

I keep 10 sensitivity on. Im just use to having my controls set sensitive anyway. Also Halo's auto aim helps a ton. this is another reason to constantly move is essential. when your moving and your cross-hairs go over an opponent you sorta follow them without will. I'm not good with the needler yet, but i always get away from it with only 2 or 3 hits. Maybe i will start using it. Got a 14 player Halo Lan Turny...eerr LAN party yea comin up :) If i win i get a free... i mean, yea a free Halo 2!!!! to bad it cost's $5 for all the food you can eat LoL.

That sounds like fun. There is a place where I live that does the same sort of thing.

Anywho the only I've ever seen anybody get better is by playing someone better than themselves... a person usually gets worse by playing a crappier (far crappier not just a little) player than themselves and the person playing a better opponent usually builds his/her skills, so what is happening with your roommates makes no sense to me.

i dont no what my sensitivity is, and that may be a problem with my gaming sometimes, im going to test it out soon,

anyways, tell your friends to stop complaining and relax when you play, if you tense you more crapper than before. They may complain saying thats got nothing to do with it like my bro says to me sometimes but i say back to him why is it im always winning then!?
Trust me it works no matter what weapon you use!

( as for me, i think ive finally found out how to use the needler in MP, but i still need practise with that yet! )

Ok, I can beat my friends dad and brother who regularly play on legendary, but I myself can't beat legendary yet. What's up with that?

I am much better in Single Player then Multiplayer. It is probably the lack of practice, as my brother never wants to play, and there is no one else I can practice with, except the occasional LAN I go to.
