I agree with much, if not all of what you have to say, SJC. However, a small group of members, along with fencr, are working tward one our members ideas for organization. MoneyMarine has offered valuable insite as to how we can have our cake and eat it too, lol. That is to say, we'll be able to keep and possibly, but most likely not, take on more members and still be very ortganized.
The Long Version:
This same small group of members consists of those who are both the oldest and most devoted. We are working an a way of organizing into "Fireteams." Much like your idea of squades, but a little less militaristic<possibly not a word, lol.>. Anyway, the members would be broken down into Fireteams with an "Overseer" or moderator in charge. The term in charg must not be missunderstood here. The Overseers are more like the Soviet Pollit Beauro. They are there to make sure the ideals and traditions of the Athenian Guard are upheld and to keep order. They have no real power to controll. This can be achieved due to our policy of jobs. You do what you signed up to do. If that works out, the Fireteam will achieve victory and hopefully on a bigger scale, the clan itself. In essence the Overseers are there to keep order and moniter the situation. This ranges from battlefield organization (if teh battle starts to fall appart) to keeping order within the clan itself. They also act as advisors to the Founder who then with the Overseers will vote on how to proceed on different courses of action.
The Short Version:
The AG will devide into Firetemas. Similar to Squads, they will function according to how the group sees fit, with an "Overseer" or moderator to make sure the ideals of the Athenian Guard are upheld.
Again, as of now, this idea is still in planning and I must stress that EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE!!!!!!!!!! That being said, the AG and it's (unofficial name) higher minds, a.k.a. older, more devoted members, are hard at work organizing and maintaing the clan.
