What is your favorite Halo Campaign level?
I personally like The Silent Cartographer because I always love storming the beach.

Here's to you, Bungie. 7,777 Covenant Heads on my spear.

Yup.

Beautiful environments, a ton of Marines, and the battles are awesome.

RIP Halo 2

For me, it goes:
AOTCR
Silent Cartographer
Halo
Truth and Reconciliation
Two Betrayals
The Maw
Pillar of Autumn
Keyes
343 Guilty Spark
Library

Or something along those lines.
I don't dislike any of them, I just like some more than others.

*sigh*

Your Mom.

And then Two Betrayals.

  • 03.15.2009 5:33 PM PDT

Assault on the Control Room, followed by either The Maw or 343 Guilty Spark.

Assault on the Control room did it for me. Getting every Marine to survive for that final battle under the bridge and charge up there, was just hands down awesome. Going from the N64 and Playstation to a game experience like that back in 2001 was an epic leap.

I loved 343 Guilty Spark just because watching that clip from the Marine you have to kill is seriously scary the first time you watch it back in 2001. That was one of the most freakish moments in Halo that I've ever experienced.

Also, the fact that you meet the Moniter and that it's the first time you fight against the Flood.

This is actually the stupidest thing ever posted on B.net:

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

Man, I have not played in a while, so I do not remember the specific mission names. BUT the end is a sweet battle in what seemed like a swamp land environment and at the end the Hunters came down from a ship...turrets around the battle area...I believe it is Truth and Reconciliation, that was indeed one of my favorites.

Truth and Reconciliation was a great mission.... That would be my third actually.

My actual GamerTag is CYBORGER1... k?

The Maw, I like to see how the ship have been wrecked, blow out the core then get a neat warthog escape, makes me feel like the end of Metal Gear Solid... I still can't know why ive been so hooked to that game (MGS) and beated it like, hum, 10 times? And you may find me Crazy because... I kinda like The Library... It's "zombie killing" and it's fun, for me...

The Maw was in fact a good ending, and I liked how Halo 3 brought back that same, epic feeling, but The Library is definitely my second favourite. Such a good Flood level.

My top 5

-Library
-The silent cartographer
-Pillar of autumn
The flood were fun in CE

Also, a little fun fact: During 343's cut scene when you met the flood, the very begging when they were on the pelican, the song played on the radio was from marathon, and it was originally going to be "Paint it Black" by the Rolling Stones... Well i thought that was interesting...

All them

Here's my VERY detailed Top 10:

10- The Silent Carthographer
(Storming the beach is fun and engaging and the creepy atmosphere in both underground intallations rocks

--the bad: A lot of backtracking, and some quite boring spots)

9- Pillar of Automn
(Opening and ending are both absolutely spectacular

--the bad: much of the time it's a bit mild compared to what the other levels have to offer)

8-Two Betrayals
(Opening scene and battle down the control center's structure is amazing, everything is just like AONCR but with a wonderful creepy night atmosphere, the flood is WONDERFULLY integrated, main objective is cleverly, stylishly executed and exciting

--the bad: So repetitive! And also frustrating at times)

7- The Library
(Like kicking Flood ass? Obviously. Where can you get your dose? Look no further, The Library is PURE zombie slaying from start to finish. Oh, and the environment is beauthiful plus there are some delightfully intense moments accompanied by big scary surprises with some creepy music

--the bad: WILL IT EVER STOP? Damn, at the end of this one hour-long Flood killing marathon you killed so many of them you feel like you have blood stain on your fingertips. NO JOKING, that's the feeling it gives me. I'd call this repetitiveness taken to extreme levels. A marathon.)

6- Assault on The Control Room
(You get all the weapons, plus the tank, plus lots of marines, plus a really epic scope

--the bad: Some annoying segments and honestly it's a bit boring at times (Personnally I think this level is overrated) )

5- Halo
(Feels great discovering Halo for the first time, meeting up with the marines and defending positions alongside them

--the bad: A little repetitive at times and mostly lacks momentum, mostly regarding the storyline)

4- Keyes
(Extremely stylish and entertaining first part, interesting, exciting setting, the flood's take over the Covenant ship looks great, many amazing and smart moments

--the bad: Second part feels repetitive)

3- Truth and Reconciliation
(BREATHTAKING atmosphere in the night portion, sniping the HUGE, endless waves of Covenant forces is priceless and all three cutscenes rock

--the bad: Second part feels repetitive (yup, and same setting too) )

2- 343 Guilty Spark
(Countless moments of pure shock and fear and great set-pieces, cool atmosphere, absolutely perfect and stylish introduction to 343 Guilty Spark and the flood, of course :D
--The bad: Confusing at times)

1- The Maw
(Beautiful and somewhat epic tone, blowing up the generators rules, perfect integration of the three opposing forces, exciting warthog run and overall a climatic, dramatic and powerful ending to a superb story
--The bad: Some frustration in the part where you're destroying the generators, other than that, a masterpiece of a level)

Now you know (I hope so lmao) what I thought of Halo: CE's levels. I believe all of them are great, but some of them just stand out and rock the FPS genre with clever and amazing level design, surprising moments and twists and some wonderful storytelling.

ps: Halo: CE is the king, Halo 3 is its slave's b****, Halo 2 is an atom of the part of the chair where she sits her butt and I mean it when I say AOTCR is overrated.

Two Betrayals has every weapon in the game. (Useable and otherwise) And every form of enemy (though I'm a little sketchy on the spec ops Elites.) Every vehicle except the Scorpion is in it, and, I've got a special draw to using the shotgun on Covenant. It's just...so much fun. Being able to dictate the outcome of massive Covenant/Flood battles...so great. This level has it all.
