Here's my VERY detailed Top 10:
10- The Silent Carthographer
(Storming the beach is fun and engaging and the creepy atmosphere in both underground intallations rocks
--the bad: A lot of backtracking, and some quite boring spots)
9- Pillar of Automn
(Opening and ending are both absolutely spectacular
--the bad: much of the time it's a bit mild compared to what the other levels have to offer)
8-Two Betrayals
(Opening scene and battle down the control center's structure is amazing, everything is just like AONCR but with a wonderful creepy night atmosphere, the flood is WONDERFULLY integrated, main objective is cleverly, stylishly executed and exciting
--the bad: So repetitive! And also frustrating at times)
7- The Library
(Like kicking Flood ass? Obviously. Where can you get your dose? Look no further, The Library is PURE zombie slaying from start to finish. Oh, and the environment is beauthiful plus there are some delightfully intense moments accompanied by big scary surprises with some creepy music
--the bad: WILL IT EVER STOP? Damn, at the end of this one hour-long Flood killing marathon you killed so many of them you feel like you have blood stain on your fingertips. NO JOKING, that's the feeling it gives me. I'd call this repetitiveness taken to extreme levels. A marathon.)
6- Assault on The Control Room
(You get all the weapons, plus the tank, plus lots of marines, plus a really epic scope
--the bad: Some annoying segments and honestly it's a bit boring at times (Personnally I think this level is overrated) )
5- Halo
(Feels great discovering Halo for the first time, meeting up with the marines and defending positions alongside them
--the bad: A little repetitive at times and mostly lacks momentum, mostly regarding the storyline)
4- Keyes
(Extremely stylish and entertaining first part, interesting, exciting setting, the flood's take over the Covenant ship looks great, many amazing and smart moments
--the bad: Second part feels repetitive)
3- Truth and Reconciliation
(BREATHTAKING atmosphere in the night portion, sniping the HUGE, endless waves of Covenant forces is priceless and all three cutscenes rock
--the bad: Second part feels repetitive (yup, and same setting too) )
2- 343 Guilty Spark
(Countless moments of pure shock and fear and great set-pieces, cool atmosphere, absolutely perfect and stylish introduction to 343 Guilty Spark and the flood, of course :D
--The bad: Confusing at times)
1- The Maw
(Beautiful and somewhat epic tone, blowing up the generators rules, perfect integration of the three opposing forces, exciting warthog run and overall a climatic, dramatic and powerful ending to a superb story
--The bad: Some frustration in the part where you're destroying the generators, other than that, a masterpiece of a level)
Now you know (I hope so lmao) what I thought of Halo: CE's levels. I believe all of them are great, but some of them just stand out and rock the FPS genre with clever and amazing level design, surprising moments and twists and some wonderful storytelling.
ps: Halo: CE is the king, Halo 3 is its slave's b****, Halo 2 is an atom of the part of the chair where she sits her butt and I mean it when I say AOTCR is overrated.
