I just realised. With the use of colo(u)rs gone. it's now impossible to hide spoilers.
At this moment there really isn't any use for spoilers, but still. Whenever i post one, and i want to make sure someone accidently reads it, i have to do something like

spoiler:

this

Wich is annoying.

So instead can't we have spoiler tags, if you know what i mean?
We could have something like

to make a text invisible, and it would be displayed like this:
Spoiler:

End spoiler
Invisible text between the two tags.
this way it ensures the invisible text isn't abused and that people don't accidently read the spoilers. And ofcourse, i don't have to push the Enter key a billion times.

just a thought.

Spoiler:

Blamming n00b!

End spoiler

I think it's much better just to put SPOILER: at the start of the subject.

One could also put a spoiler warning in the topic title, but what if it isn't your topic?
And like i said, you can simply type "spoiler", but it still easily read over.
I once had that. In some thread someone posted:
Spoiler: you get to play an elite!

like that, i saw it in a flash, thus an entire part of halo 2 was spoiled for me.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Someone in New Mombasa had posted "MC DIES IN HALO 2" and I read it. Man did that get me worried.

But back on topic. I think that this might be a good idea, but I doubt Acronos(sp?) would go for it. He might, but I doubt it.

If it isn't your topic then don't post spoilers, unless it's a spoiler topic.

oh come on, don't drop the "well just don't do it" routine on us. that's not a solution. what if "spoiler" isn't in the topic but the thread requires a response that includes a spoiler.

I thought any variations of the 'N' word wasnt allowed, I know you'r forum ninja, but thats kind of like saying the president can commit a crime and get away with it.

They're not allowed in a malicious context. Using them to make a point is OK.

I guess that is a pretty cool idea, but you can still just put something like

SPOILER
****************************************************
then put spoiler here....

What if a user chooses not to use a spoiler tag for a spoiler?

Besides, if we were to use invisible text for spoilers, a) they would be abused (as per my example) and b) new users may be confused even more. And, of course, c) people just wouldn't use them.

Anyway, most times it's obvious from the subject whether there's a spoiler or not.

Invisible text color is one of the reasons we lost out colors in the first place.

You could always PM the thread creator and tell him to edit the topic name.
in the meantime,
I find that
italic text is always harder to accidentally pick out phrases from in terms of peripheral vision. Many people also read the header if it is Italic

that is one possible defense against spoilers.

Or as the subject.

People aren't smart enough to use this though (this is true).
