i just assumed that it was the plasma pistol. The colours right, we could also assume that theyve done up the graphics side of the weapons as well as the function. So it could just be a newly designed look for the projectile.

I think along with the new AI the Covies will try to use human weapons.

OT, i'm slightly worried by the abundance of indoor/urban screenies and the lack of outdoor enviroments... though obviously, as Bungie have stated, they will exist in Desert, Snow and Jungle flavours! I just wish they would allay my fears and post some shots of the new enviroments... hopefully E3 will shed some more light on the new settings.

What Bungie seem to be attempting is a balance between human and alien weapons: in Halo, the alien weapons were less powerful or practical than their human counterparts,: (The plasma pistol, for instance, although capable of being used very effectively, is usually a last ditch weapon, due to the fact it is so inferior to the Pistol or the Assualt Rifle, and its projectiles are so slow, etc) or in many cases, there were NO alien equivalents. (Shotgun vs nothing, Sniper Rifle vs nothing). Therefore, Bungie seems to be introducing new weapons and tweaking older weapons so that whatever human hardware you can get your hands on, there will always be a alien equivalent that is equally useful.

if you remeber the books quartana also has all the forrunners information in her and they may be able to access some of the weapons designs towards the end of the game and make them opeen to your own use in the last few level. It would be cool if they intorduced some forrunners weapons towards the end f the game in the last few levels. They must be able to have downloaded the information by then and because earth is under attck i would have thought they'd be building the weapons straight away in which case you should be able to brake into alab and steal them or something or maybe they could get you to teest them out. Of course they need to be superior to the covenant but they should have a more limited ammo capacity compared to the other guns.

Are you gunna b able to reload covenant guns in the next game?

I would guess that reloads for (some) covenant weapons will be in place: also, it's "Cortana", and lastly, i dont think that the books will affect the plot of Halo 2 that much.

The books should have an affect and quite a big one i mean they are the basis of the story. I know the first one didnt follow it so closly but if it did it would have been sooo long people wouldhave gotten bored with it.

The books will inevitably have little effect. They are fairly uninspired cash-ins... vaguely interesting for the few snippets of information not present in Halo that they revealed, but otherwise poorly written and ultimately insignificant. Again, i stress that they are unlikely to have much bearing over Halo 2 plot details.

How can you say that about the books when that is what the game is based on? If the game is based on the book, how can the book have insignificant on the game if anything is inacurrate trash it has to be the game for not telling us the detail of the plot lines.

the book is a novelisation of the game, not the otherway round.

so the books were written way back in 97/98, when Halo was still a RTS, right?

Oscar Wilde once said "Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.". However, i am of the viewpoint that dead men do not make good role models, and thus, yes, i am very sarcastic.

Incidentally, Halo: The Fall Of Reach was released October 2001.

But couldn't that be a different covie weapon? He never said it was the gun that the elites are holding in that screen. He just said it was a covenant weapon that has been seen before. Know one knows which weapon it is and if you say you do then you're lying.

Then give me another example of a covenant weapon.

If not that weapon, needler, plasma pistol, or plasma rifle must have a zoom feature.

Well maybe it's the brute weapon? None of us know for sure. Frankie never said "That gun the elites are holding in that one screen is the covenant weapon with a scope" did he? He just said one that you've seen before has a scope so it could be and it could not that weapon you are talking about. Really I could care less but I'm just telling you guys that you don't know for fact that is the gun he is talking about.

I forgot about the Brute weapon. From what we know it is either the Brute weapon or the Elite weaponn. Those are the only ones we now nothing about.

OMFG! the nade launcher was the brute weapon dumbass. obviously you dont pay any attention to books. the brute nade launcher would be deadly. and also, i dont get how a covenant sniper rifle would be effective. i mean its friggin plasma. if its gonna be a sniping weapon then it shoud be a type of solid projectile instead of plasma... like a super powered needle.

first off, this annoys me keyes, look at the new screen shot with the 2 jackels and MC, whats that? I see a plasma rifle????:O If you would take 1 second to look, you wouldnt look like a fool. Anyways before I get banned, The new covy weapon cant be a sniper, I've said it before and I'll say it again...
The "scope" isnt a scope, its looks more like a cartridge for ammo. The elites wouldnt be carrying snipers either right infront of a door, unless its equivalent to the battle rifle, but why would they still have a slow firing weapon there? So my best bets are its an automatic type weapon which is probably fires a brand new kind of element type of ammo, a result of the creative people in Bungie have made.

It doesn't have to be plasma. What if they used a laser or something more original? Bungie already developed a Covenant sniper rifle in the past, but they did not show us how it worked.
