Since the humans complain (in all the books) that ballistics are not effective against the covenant why don’t they capture covie weapons and reverse engineer them? I think that human scientists are quite capable even though they are far behind the covenant. Its more than 500 years in the future so I would expect that we made more advances in plasma technology that just a plasma television. Even if we didn’t we should still try now that we have learned that plasma is more effective. In the manual it says that very few covenant have ever been captured so all we know about them is from battlefield reports. That doesn’t mean we can’t capture there weapons! I mean there are literally hundreds of covie weapons on Halo and probably tons more on other planets so why is it so hard to get one reverse it. Concerning space fighting there should be at least one wrecked covie ship with its weapons in decent condition. Now with AI’s it should be very easy to make our own version of a plasma weapon. Then put it in the field and see how it works. If it’s not good sack the program and that’s the end of it. What if it is more effective? It may give us a fighting chance in space and/or one the ground. So why don’t humans try to reverse engineer covenant weapons?
