I mean seriously, have any mods ever been fired? Can they be fired? Or does something worse happen to them? I am a curious person... What happens if a mod goes crazy and starts reaking havoc? I know the other guys can step in, but imagine the damage one could do...

This is why Bungie only takes moderators they can trust.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

I wish mods would get the same punishments we do for breaking the rules. I can remember a fiew times. But whatever, they leave me alone and i will follow the rules

Well, there's the Disembodied Soul... but I'm not sure he counts as a Moderator. Or as being fired, for that matter.

Mods don't get paid to moderate, hence they can't be fired.

Disembodied Soul has a freaky avatar, and I do wonder what would happen if a mod just went crazy. Although with the mods we have I find that highly unlikely. Then again, that recon character seems pretty suspicous if'n you ask me....

An angered wrath of everything spam, except he has been on a little to much speed.

I have heard that the Soul has these sporadic fits where he is contending with so much spam he just goes on a rampage...

Of course this I heard through various rumours.

A subtle yet VERY important difference.

to you, I am at an age were i dont like authority. I am shure i will grow out of it someday, but i always seem to challenge things. Anyways Has long has i dont get a smartass comment from anyone, then i wont make smartass comments. I dont want to point anyone out, but an offender of this is a mod.

Anyways i saw in the flood how 2 mods got blacklisted. GOOD, they shouldnt be allowd to break rules if we dont

i like to think of it like this, although i'm probably completely and utterly wrong, but diluding myself (if that makes any sense) with these false hopes makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside...ahem:

all mods are under the rule of ACHRONOS, not necessarily spelled correctly. although i haven't seen him around the forums, i've looked him up and found that he is the site's overlord, and may do as he wishes with the site, the users (although thats what the mods are for) and the mod's. so if any mod's got blacklisted, it was his doing. remember, this is only a thought of mine.

as for eagles5 take on the mods, i think he's right, but from the users standpoint. and from shishka's standpoint, he's right as well. so there is no wrong person here, but nobody can truly be correct as you both only see from the perspectives you each have.

no matter, for i believe that, as a good arbiter(i had a smarter word to use, but i lost it just now) for this conversation, i have hopefully solved this dilemma and you should all stop starring at my writing and continue on with you're lives.

You know, I may be 14, but I try to respect all guys because where I live(southern alabama), those who dont, get a beat down. They do like what it says in the Lord's book, "Spare not the rod". And brilliant, you are brilliant...yet so....as u said it...diluded....

I was at that age once myself. You know what allowed me to see the error of that view? Getting my ass rightfully kicked by people who didn't appreciate some kid who thought that he knew better how things worked. I only wish that I had been able to learn that in a less painful way. But alas, even though I had plenty of chances to do so, it still took the ass kickings (yes, sometimes I didn't get it the first time) to realize that important rules usually have powerful authorities to enforce them. Good luck to you though.

For someone who "doesn't like authority" you sure seemed pretty happy to see it applied inappropriately. Oh well, that too will come along with years and experience.

Thx for proving my point. I doubt I will recieve any physical beatings anyways must of sucked for u has a kid getting beat down all the time. But look at u know,u run a site and beat down the troublemakers with ur mouse. Sports make u strong, computers makes u smart, i use both. Stay strong and smart and ur set for life. I would like this to be the end of our own personal disscussion.

let me see if i have this right...

A) mods, believe it or not, are human (though shiska's avatar suggests a little cyborg action), and probably have made mistakes. i can live with that. also, the rules here are solid. so why argue with them? theres a line between righteous rebellion and a really bad idea. (its thin, i hear)
B) 99/100 times a mod has to be "an authority figure" because 99/100 people are dunces.
C) as for that other 1/100, well it's generally worth taking a look at.

so why fire them? if anything, there need to be more, cause im gettin tired of sifting through the "said dunces" posts. friggin new mombasa is getting ridiculous, with worthwhile posts being buried under constant repeat and illegal posts. its painful to look at, and drove me into a sweet group which i luckily found.

i suggest you do the same if you dont like these forums.

Well I have a belive that mods are normal humans. Go figure. They just have special tool belts that are available at Microsoft and bungie, but not given to normal people

Ah yess, I also used to be an ignorant bastard who posted crap. It's true. But the people on this site set me straight. of course, that was a long time ago, back in the day when you were allowed to set someone straight.

Used to?! Long time ago?! What are you talking about?!!. - Reigi

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

A person who has even the slightest chance of going crazy and reaking havoc has no chance of being a mod. Bungie chooses wisely.

ok, i know that this should normally belong in that other thread, but my post explained everything, and took over 20 minutes to load...

and this one i sent in an hour ago, and after clicking it 3 times and leaving, it didn't work...i know my connection isn't messed up, cause my bro was online...

Well, since all A.I's eventually go rampant after about 9 years due to something or other I can't mention, i'm pretty sure that shishka will follow suit.

But I wouldn't think of it as a bad thing. Think of it as getting to play Marathon all over again. Except in Real life. And without the 2.5D graphics.
