i assume that you have an AGP slot
9200 should definitely be able to handle halo, maybe not as good as you would think though

My card is an ati x300se (same as 9200 or 9600, forget which one it is), which is a pci-express card. in multiplayer, i can't do much more than a resolution of 800*600, high particles, high texture, and decals (bulletholes, blood). Shadows and Specular (shiny metalic surfaces) bog my card down.

If you have an AGP slot that card isn't too great, if you have a PCI slot its around the best you can get. An ATi 9800 Pro would be a good AGP card and its not that pricy, less than $200 prolly more around $150.

Well, whatever you do, don't get a Geforce 2 MX (my graphics card). Even though it's AGP, it sucks majorly. On 1024x768 (or something like that, I'm too lazy to go check), it can't do the minimum settings without some choppage.

and since your asking about halo 2 pc, let me tell you that the xbox has the same graphics card it always had, from halo to halo 2 it has not changed

That is true, but there are some differences between the xbox and a computer. Mainly that the Xbox doesn't do anything except play games so those specs will do better than similar specs on a PC.
