I know "technically" that it takes place on the Pillar of Autumn, but when you go through that section, its just hard to believe, for instance: THE POA IS NOT 3 KILOMETERS LONG!
What is the deal with that, having to drive the warthog 3 Km, I mean in halo:the fall of reach, Keyes was marvelling at hpw big the "Cradle" was (1km) when he was in the Iroquios, and the Iroquise wasnt as big as the cradle, and it said the POA is 1/3 of the size of marathon class cruisers (which I belive the Iroquios was) and its over 3 Km long.

Another thing, when you reach the bridge part of the POA where you have to wait for foehammer, whats going on there, is that flimsy bridge the onlything connectingthe 2 halves of the ship, because in the opening cutscene, I dont recall seeing any bridge like that.

Also, when driving why are there square holes in the celing, (they arent blast holes) they are square cut and its retarded, when is space I wouldnt want those things there, it would suck everything out.

And now the design of the course, why would you even NEED a part of a ship like in in there, it doesnt server any purpose but to be wierd.

Comments please.

Did you notice you have to turn a bunch in the maw. You never just drove straight at it forever. Secondly the ending was one of the best parts of the game. It was like a movie where the end of the world is coming (independence day), but a hero (you) defeats the enemy.

For the brige question. All I can say is that bungie just added that so you could see foehammer get pelted with plasma.

I never have looked at the ceiling in the maw, I take my warthog driving seriously.

And now the design of the course, why would you even NEED a part of a ship like in in there, it doesnt server any purpose but to be wierd.

I don't fully understand that question. Can you please explain? If you were asking why the maw was on the pillar of autumn it's because the Master Cheif had to destroy Halo.

Cortana says that that part of the ship is 'a class 7 service corridor that runs along the ship's dorsal structure' and the flimsy bit where Foe Hammer is meant to pick you up is 'external access junction 4C'. Hope that helps.

I've been wondering about this too.

* Huge holes in the ship, that weren't created by explosions. "Let's have huge windows so when they are blown by Covenant attacks, the vacuum of space sucks out everything! Ingenious!"
* The large corridors are all bumpy. "Let's make a huge corridor so people can easily get from one side of the ship to the other. Better yet, lets make it fun by adding some accents and dips!"
* That little gap in the ship for 'external access junction 4C'. "Let's make a little bridge that is the only connection between 2 parts of the ship! Better yet, let's make it completely unprotected so the Covenant have an easy task of infiltrating the ship!"

Some of it really doesn't make that much sense, it sounds more like a traitor has made it full of flaws to make it easier for the enemy rather than someone actually working for the Humans.

1. Iriquois was a destroyer-class ship.
2. If you look below the bridge, you'll se a huge metal plate that is the hull of the ship. Apparently, you are near the top of the ship in that particular place.

Just for clarification....its just a level.

yeah, i was about to mention that the Iriqous was a destroyer. but that doesn't matter much, since they mentioned that the PoA actually looks like a frigate. which is smaller than a destroyer.

perhaps parts of the ship kinda broke off when it crashed? or maybe the extra distance came when you turn so much? or maybe it was just put in there so that the game was more challenging?

correct me if im wrong( i haven't read the book in a while) but i think the book says its a really old ship, so i don't think they knew about the covies when they built it. but i don't know what was with all those turns and bumps.

I can only speak on two things, the square holes and the little bridge. The square hole may close while in space and then open when the area is clear and needs to release either pelicans or longsword fighters. So in that case, they are not always open. as for the bridge, that section of the ship may have been damage when the crash occured and when the covenant took control of the ship they may have removed all around it and kept the bridge to get back and forth between the two halves. Also the may have removed it when the flood was unleased to help control flood activity. As for the other things like the 3 kilometers of ship and why they would really need it to be exactly like that i totally agree with you.

Well I dont think that those windows open up to release longswords, because if its a class 7 service corridor, people/vehicles will be on it, so theyw ould have to evacuate it first, then bring the longswords in from the docking bay, when they could just send them out via the docking bay door. And as for the bridge part, I dont think you can remove that amount of armor in so little time, and I dont think it was blown apart because how cleanly it was cut.
Its just odd, and what about that part where you drive off that big cliff thing and then jump a gap, why the hell would that be there, people wouldnt be able to get down it and neither would vehicles. Nothing makes and sense on that part of the level.

If you notice, right above the gap, there was a section of floor on a winch type device. Perhaps it was an elevator at one time.

Maybe the driving course what made for Marine Warthog training. Makes sence. And doesn't Maw mean like, jackpot or something? If it does, its the jackpot for destroying Halo.

Why would they put a Warthog driving course on a ship when they could put it on Reach (when it was still around) and besides Cortana says its a class 7 service corridor, not a warthog training route.

Maw means mouth/throat/stomach of a voracious animal(see the maw forum). i think their doing the whole "belly of the beast" metaphor there.

If you've ever played the game Marathon, than you know what a BIG ship is! ((3x the size of the PoA))
