I know by watching the Halo 2 E3 demo that buildings will crumble and stuff...but what about making holes in the ground and other things like that...do you think that we will be able to do that.
That would be pretty cool for muliplayer...like if you were to fire a rocket at a warthog but miss and hit that ground in its path...then the warthog might hit the ditch hard and flip over

I would think it'd be something fairly similar, just way more refined. Diving in recently-made craters for cover during a battle would be funky-fresh.

Yeah i would hope that it would be refined because it is bungie and bungie is GOD. But imagine that the particles of rock that you blew up could hurt or even kill you. Like for example you are being sniped and have no where to go...you have a rocket launcher and the sniper is on a cliff with some rocks above him....you fire a rocket over him....and he knows it will miss so he doesnt move...but when it explodes on those rocks above him they come crumbling down on him and kill him....that would be hilarious

That would definatly rock! It would sure add to the openend-i-ness of Halo and add a touch of strategy! Heck! We could dig a moat around your base, stop Warthogs in their tracks and of course shoot a grave for Church! :P

It would be cool to dig a tunnel to the enemy base and steal their flag. lol.

There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who know binary, and those who don't.

u guys take this way out of proportion. area damage will exist in halo 2, but not to the degree fo digging cross-level tunnels. u shoot something, pieces chip off. there is some potential for putting craters in the ground and into walls, but not to the point that u could erase a building from a map, tunnel thru a wall, dig trenches, etc. they would be enough for a little bit of cover and to make driving a bit harder. as far as the rocks going damage, not unless u created an avalanche, which would almost have to be a triggered event, meaning on one would sniper from the resulting death zone in the first place.

I doubt it'd have that much destruction.

You assume way too much! all of what you just said doesn't have to be true, you don't work for bungie

I doubt that Halo 2 would have anything close to the geomod tech. In that game, I turned on infinite rockets and actually tunneled through the level and skipped all the enemies. It would be really hard to do on an Xbox because there is only 64 Mb of RAM, and all the destruction would ramp up the number of polygons that had to be rendered exponentially, slowly killing the Xbox's graphics processing power.

As long as everything that is destructable doesn't have an invincible gate inside of it... It was annoying when you destroyed walls to try and get threw and there was a gate inside of thew all that couldn't be destroyed....

The Geo-Mod in Red Faction has a limit and so will Halo 2 if it ever has a Geo-Mod. In Halo 2 if there is one you probably won't make as big a hole as in Red Faction because Red Faction maps were designed to take that kind of Geo-Mod capability as if so far Halo 1 has a couple maps right now that just wouldn't be compatible with the Geo-Mod in Red Faction thus either making the Geo-Mod have less crater damage or there will be no Geo-Mod at all and all Geo-Mod have limits which Halo 2 will also put a limit on theirs just enough so you wouldn't be able to tunnel wherever you wanted.
