I know pollopesca and a few others on here like to use 3ds Max, gmax, and other apps to do some 3D designing here and there. Seeing as how I don't really have a forum to discuss this kind of thing at, I thought maybe a thread for 3D designers could be cool.

Take this as a casual place to upload rendered models, share some scenes or CG movies, talk about websites, etc. It would also be cool if we could all come together and work on a Halo CE map. Really, the only time I ever worked with someone on these forums on a map for CE was a while ago for a Vietnam-based map. Still sitting on my hard drive, not completed...we all want CE revived, lets help out and make some new content.

This will probably die off soon, but I think everyone on here should get into the whole 3D design thing a little bit. It's quite fun, and you can even make money off of royalties on sites like turbosquid and digitaldreams. gmax is free, and you can acutally just keep renewing 3ds Max trials >:)

why don't we focus on a single thing davis - the map for instance - vietnam, eh? Are you still sold on that? I'd love to help when I have time, but I don't know much about it. However, if you recall, three weeks ago, I didn't know anything about setting up a dedicated server either....

Well, if history repeats itself, which it does, the map won't really happen :P

The only person who really said they made an effort to go into the dedicated servers was Ioniz...

The vietnam map, I can probably fish out the bitmap file to it, but I doubt that the actual 3D terrain exists. However, I am not very good with the technical aspects of the level geometry, mainly parameters of non-terrain things like building and the coding for certain aspects of a level. In reality we'd need someone with experience on that, as it takes a long time to master it. It took me two weeks consistently working and such to successfully complete a wizard-size map.

If there is anyone who has used 3ds Max successfully for maps or is good with compiling and coding with guerilla, post here!

okay. I'd have joined your server, davis, but I was busy hosting my own empty server - of which Ioniz was the only visitor.... and somehow managed to kill himself.... I learned a lot about server logs, though, and I am considering writing a Java program to pull statistics ou of server logs. It wouldn't be real-time, and you'd have the problem of the log overflowing and overwriting itself, but I think it could be done. But that's not CAD, however, it does keep your thread alive, davis.
