It maybe just me, but The only features really that halo 3 has over halo 2 is, forge, co op campaign, graphics, andtheater mode. Okay, forge got its @ss kicked considering far cry map editor. Theater mode, really only cool for fun videos of machinima, but that is something i actually enjoy. Co-op, everyone is saying that they wished halo 2 had co op, and I could not agree more, but halo 3 co op is not that its bad its just the campaign is too short and is a bad one. Halo 2 campaign is long and fun. Now graphics, dont even matter to me. I could be playing a game with doom 1 graphics and if its fun, ill still play it. So basically I like halo 2 more than halo3, I just wish that the party system in the NXE would let me talk to my friends while i play Halo 2. Oh one more thing, Halo 2 maps kick halo 3s maps out the window. If you need me ill be on, maybe.

RIP Halo 2

I prefer Halo 2 to Halo 3, and many people in this forum would agree. We do have too many of these threads though.

You guys like Halo 2, we like Halo 3. That's it, that's all.

I'm a dude playing a dude desguised as another dude. I hate heritics, non-logical thoughts and people who are better than I am. People tell me that they like a lot of games, but I hate them all. Whenever I play a video game, I always go crawling back to Halo 3. Never go full retard!

Honestly, out of the entire trilogy, my personal favorite Halo game is Halo 2. Most people would argue that Halo 2 is the worste in the trilogy and that Halo: Combat Evolved is the best, but l beg to switch that around.

Here's what's up.

When Halo: Combat Evolved was made, it was the basic game. Bungie had never created a previous Halo game, so this layed the foundations for the franchise. Go figure people loved it and people wanted more.

So Bungie made Halo 2. What they wanted to do with this was make a more interesting and more expanded sequal to the game. So what they did was change things around... the enemies were weaker, there were new vehicles, dual weilding, boarding, a very extensive and more confusing campaign, more Covenant history...

I don't think people got too upset with the dual weilding and boarding. Infact, l think people liked those elements. l think what got people upset was that the story was so extensive, there was too much Covenant stuff and the plot was too wild.

But those were the three things that l liked best about Halo 2. I thought that those elements were what made the game great. Bungie focased more on what made a game epic and cool and focased less on those "thirty seconds of fun" that everybody keeps talking about.

Now changing those priorities and making a game universe "bigger" and "broader" made people mad, but boy did l love it. I think that my favorite levels are the ones that are very "Halo 2-ish". For example, my all time favorite level in any videogame ever is Gravemind. What elements does that level have? 1. lt branches out far into the Halo Universe (High Charity) 2. It involves the Covenant/Civil war 3. The Covenant Civil war provides the "cool" element 4. Long/Extensive plot undertones.

That level follows all the tendencies of the difference between Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2.

When Halo 2 was "over", people kept crying that the game wasn't like Halo: Combat Evolved. People begged for a more "classic" feel. So when Halo 3 was made, Bungie intentionally made it to be more like the original Halo game, combining those elements. The "thirty-seconds of fun" the more Human only oriented feel. And for the most part, the plot wasn't too extensive. Besides the last level the whole game basically took place on Earth and the Ark.

That's why when l rank my favorite Halo games from favorite to least, my list looks like this.

Halo 2
Halo 3
Halo: Combat Evolved

Now don't get me started on Halo Wars. That's a different story.

Anyone who thinks Halo: CE is the worst in the Halo series need to realized that they have an extra chromosome.

1st Halo CE
2nd Halo 2 Multiplayer
3rd Halo 3
4th Halo 2 Campaign

SPARTANS NEVER DIE THEY JUST GO TO HELL TO REGROUP!

He does have a point...halo 2's maps were, in my opinion a lot more fun. I can't really explain how but they were.

It just had more of a...Haloish feel to it. You really felt like you were playing as the Master Chief, stopping Delta Halo from being fired, kicking the Covenant off the Earth, battling through High Charity when it didn't look like the Gravemind had spewed up all over the place.

I agree with you in some ways. I think you're being a little hard on Halo 3, because while it wasn't as good as H2 story wise, it wasn't bad (in my opinion). Am I the only person on Bungie that loves all three games? O_o

What Im just asking was that if anyone else agreed with me on my OPINION, and those of you who actually did answer thank you. But to those simple minded such as the one post above me say...It does not matter if you have a long or short post its just the principal that matters. Your post could be one sentence, but if it makes sense who gives a -blam!- on how big or small the post is. Plus if this is a Do you prefer Halo 2 or Halo 3, or even Halo:CE. Dont put random stupid comments that just wastes everyones time. Oh and sorry for the somewhat long post.

No Halo game is the worst. For anybody to say worst is a complete idiot. Theyre all great. Heres how I see it.

If I wanna have awesome CTF matches, GENIUS story, and Warthog fun, I play Halo:CE

If I want to Learn some things I may have missed in Campaign, Play the greatest Halo map of all time (Lockout) and Use an amazing BR, I play Halo 2.

If I wanna Finish the fight again, play online with an endless amount of people, use forge and theater, and play new maps, I play Halo 3.

If I have a couple hours to spare and wnna take control of armies, while learning more about Halo, I play Halo Wars.

Nuff said.

Multiplayer Gameplay
Halo:CE------------------Reach--------Halo2-----------------H alo3
Campaign Experience
Reach----Halo:CE-----------------ODST-----Halo2---------Halo3

Glad that Halo 3 garbage is dead, thanks to Reach.
Unfreakenbelievable!!

Looking only at the Multiplayer gameplay; not including lag and cheaters...

Halo2 problems: glitches, PP noobiness, switching to Sword noobiness, overpowered Vehicles, SMG starts, overall balance

Halo3 fixes: fixed, fixed, fixed, slightly fixed due to many anti-Vehicles tactics, slightly fixed with the range and power of the AR, balance improved but still not that good

Halo3 problems: AR-only starts but only for Objectives, overall range of weapons decreased with randomness deciding things more, Melees are too effective, Vehicles are still overpowered to those without specific weapons, overall balance is still not that good
...and I could think of more, but I'm trying to be as unbiased as I can.

Most things wrong with Halo 2 were fixed for Halo 3, which is good. However, the one thing separating the gameplay is the range and randomness of weapons. That is really the only reason why I, and others, would say they enjoyed Halo 2 more; because of the BR.

On another note: I like the M6G Magnum more than any weapon in Halo 2 and 3, and it is the lone reason I can tolerate what Halo 3 has to offer.

I think the fine people at Bungie should treat the Halo 3 players with some Halo 2 Maps. Midship, Beaver Creek to name a few.

  • 03.31.2009 8:16 PM PDT

I agree with alot of posts but also disagree

First off... let me get this out...

Halo 2 Maps > Halo 3 Maps

Okay, phew, good now.

Anyway, so yeah, Halo 3 campaign was short, felt very close quarters at some points.

To me, Halo 3 is Halo 2.5 HD, they just put a 3 there to simplify it up better ... lol.

And, Halo 2 DOES play in HD (480p mind you, but it still looks better then a reg set).

I just wish that Bungie, honestly, would like re-release Halo 2, but upgraded ya know? I don't care if they don't improve the graphics, I could care less keep them the way they are! Just fix what needs to be fixed (BXR, Sword god I hate that damn thing, etc.)

And maybe a few new Halo 2 maps would be sweet as well. And don't say they can't do this, because they can and easily mind you. One word: Marketplace

If they can put XBOX Originals up there, and obv put Halo:CE up there, they could re-release 2 on XBOX O's for say 1200 Points or w/e but things were fixed. (cuz xbox games/systems are starting to become rare, and more people play on a 360 like myself, not saying I don't have a copy of Halo 2, I do.)

That alone could draw more attention and population towards Halo 2 IMHO.

One can dream...

Hi All

Here is what I think. Halo 2 had the best storyline out of all the Halo's. As well as being the most important storyline because it is when the Great Schism happens which in my opinion is one of the most important events to happen in Halo's plot. Also I liked how the game allows you to play as the arbiter to experience the game in his shoes.

Halo 3's storyline is linear there is no twists or turns in the plot but it's still very exciting I think. Halo 1 storyline was linear for most of the game until you encounter the flood which is the only exciting part in the plot. And I suppose you could include Captain Keyes getting assimilated into that pro-gravemind thing. That was unexpected. So at the time Halo 1 story was good but now it is nothing special.

Halo 2 and Halo 3 both have the Dual Wield feature which I think is great and both have a great Multilayer. Halo 1's multilayer is obsolete and the game doesn't have the dual wield feature. Some of the levels in Halo 1 were long but that was because they require a lot of backtracking or they can get confusing. But the number of chapters in the game are less than Halo 2 and Halo 3. There is only about 6 or 7 chapters if I recall right in Halo 1. It is just that some of Halo 2 and 3 chapters were long but not as long as Halo 1's. So to make up for that they made more chapters in Halo 2 and Halo 3.

In my opinion these are just some of the Positives and negatives. I won't do any more to save you to much reading.

Bye
