Actually many SMGs can fire rifle bullets, including the standard 5.56mm NATO round.
SUB just means the gun is small, designed for tight, urban work.
Don't you notice that all smgs fire pistol ammunition. Maybe you should research the history of the smg, the m1a1 of ww2 actually wieghed more then the m1 garand rifle, not much in the way of handy small smgs of today. Today's smgs are small, that is true, but that is because of the ammo they fire and the limitations and applications of that very ammo, it is pointless to fire a pistol round from a large 20 inch barrel when the round is best used in urban terrain where a handier weapon is more useful and you wont need to fire at objects 300 yards away, something a pistol round is not capable of, which limits it to this application.
There are some small rifles with 9 inch barrels which are incorrectly labled as smgs but those are normally of russian origin where the definition maybe different. Most small rifles firing intermediate rounds like the m4 and even the more compact command versions as well as some othere types like the g36c and sig 552 are the size of smgs yet they remain classified as carbines because of the very ammo they fire.
P.S. Counterstrike isn't the best place to learn about firearms.
