Dun-dun-duuuuuuun. Wow alot of emotion in that section, another fine piece of as... I mean work. Ah you never seem to disappoint, unlike the WWU seems to do. The fanfic writers are the only reason I really like to come to these forums, they're great. And wow the flood brain's own creation has now taken over, and quite possibly give our heroes an even harder time of staying alive. I can't wait till the next chapter, good luck!

A cobweb of riddles far more intricate than I first expected to see. Once again, you add a spider to the story, and the little flies are waiting to be eaten.... This is getting pretty - very interesting, my mind is whirling at the possibilities and revelations. I would come up with a theory if not for the many facts that would have to implied. This is beyond me, I will simply read and enjoy, and find out where this is headed.

Was it Gravemind? Domadree? A brain form? Really I am going to re-read it all and see if I overlooked anything. Soulguard, amazing, truly amazing.

The part with Simyaldee... the watchmen, well, you made them less... evil. I pity them now. I don't know but... showing the scene with Gridolee's history was a brilliant ploy. I feel less angry now, I understand the watchmen. And I understand Simyaldee's pain, and the pain Timnaldee is about to experience. Horrible. So many emotions... incredible. A beyond-superb job, Soulguard. You leave me thirsting for more like a man facing the Sahara Desert.

Keep this up and I expect to see a little black box in the stores soon... a Halo box, the saga fulfilled by Soulguard....

It probably wasn't because of my recommendation, but still I think you did a very clever job showing Gridolee's old class like that. The watchmen are - as Scorp put it - less evil now. They are... somewhat better understood. And the part of Simyaldee's confrontation with the young fellow that could barely hold a plasma rifle... it made my eyes water for a second.

My mind is shifting to top gear, but still it has difficulty processing all the possibilities, unknowns, dangers, what-ifs, why-fors, etc. etc. You are making one hell of a story here. You said that in this Stage, we would either hate Rose more, or love Rose more... I still hate her. A stupid not-quite-using-make-up using -blam!- that can't take care of herself and -blam!-s up Eric and his job. Nice job, Soul, you really got me pissed. That means my emotions are floating along in this story. A very nice job.

Some very interesting words from all of you. I luv it. I do have to admit that Rose's scene was 'cut' for continuity sake, so a lot that she was going to do was held off until stage 20.

And Yes MG42, I do have to admit that your suggestion was heeded about the watchmen. I had intended to use Gridolee's flashback/betrayal, but I hadn't thought of how that would clear up so loose ends with the the Watchmen. So I quickly adjusted it slighty to show some form of connection with the Watchmen and the Prophets.

The gravemind question has finally arrived... but I think I shall spark some theories and see what you guys think. I'm curious to know if anyone has pieced any of this puzzle together. The connection between the Seed, the reclaimers, the Mirratord, and the Gravemind "like" creature. So I'll ask you all, what is the Gravemind? Is it really a flood leader, or is it more of a flood form... or something more? heehee

As always, you know I won't give a direct answer, but I'm curious to see what you all think.

I am honored that my humble opinion has been taken into account, soulguard.

Ooh... the evil laugh is back... well, let me think.... I don't understand much of the Mirratord, but that's mainly because I'm confused about the possible connection between Scorp's Mirratord and your Mirratord. And though I am sure you were first, they aren't trained by the Sharquoi in your story, are they Soulguard?

The Reclaimers are the Spartans... because that Forerunner chap in the Seed Installation was a Forerunnerish holographic appearance. The Seed is one of the... seed, sprouted from the Ark, or so I understand from the story. And the Gravemindish creature would... be... umm... someone who wants knowledge. Knowledge to feed, or so he said. And something tells me he won't be hauling his dead fat-ass body to the nearest McDonalds... especially since that would be a multi-billion kilometer trip.

To feed... to feed... feed on Humans? Feed on Flood? Use the Flood to feed? Do we have to return it all to the Prophets? What is their role? They started the war to distract the Sangheili, and they want them eliminated, that's for sure.

But then they'd have to get their little hands on a Seed Installation or the Ark. And friggin' ONI knows of the Seed Installations, but would they know of the Ark as well? I wonder....

So, to make a long story short: I still don't get it... yet. I'll think about it... I mean that.

-blam!-... I am too late to post anything original... as always.

Well, soulguard, I just wanna say that you did one hell of a job with this Stage... as always... and you deserve the title of 'pro writer' or at least 'Experienced Author' in the Official FanFic Group... seeing as though you are still listed as 'reader'

*glances at sir_brilliant*

Anyway, good job, I'm dying to see more. But I won't touch the theory thing. I have the annoying habit of believing my own theories... and I am a worthless theorist.

NOVA!!! Alas, finally it is mentioned. Something tells me the seed installation "ship" will not be leaving in a oh-so-quiet sort of way.

Ok, so maybe this is a simple improper noun, but lets read this part over carefully again:

" A few moments later, Signs entered his private quarters within the academy and released a heavy sigh. He had set things in motion, but the chance of the plan succeeding was thin. His terminal buzzed and he glanced upward at his view screen.
“Greetings signs, I take it that this line is private?” The aged elite stated before him.
“Yes Mercy, as always.”

HUH? "THE AGED ELITE..... MERCY?"

Just how does the elite... uh, prophet Signs have this much future knowledge, or clairvoiance? Perhaps a repeat of history?

The tie between the Forerunners and (human/elite/etc.) are much closer than they seem at first. "“This grunt is a direct lineage of the Forerunners’ DNA." This line, I assume is not saying direct lineage of the Forerunners DNA, but DNA Forerunners constructed for reasons not-yet stated.

You also substantiated that the Prophets (whatever they are) do expect NOT to die during the firing of the halo ring worlds. I wonder what thier plan for survival is? I wonder WHY they want to fire the halo rings?

"A deep echoing voice emerged from the body, “Dead? No Sergeant, I live and I shall not die. Freed of the parasite that controlled me, I lay and grow, but now you threaten my rest. I understand it all now, I see beyond the limits of my flesh. My life can not be ended now, I must live, I must thrive and grow. A brain is near, much knowledge of those who came before. It knows of Mercy and Truth, of the Rings and of the Ark. Much knowledge it contains. I am not complete, I am not whole, I need more bodies to grow.”

“Leave this world. Seek out those that would activate the Rings. Leave the seed for me, sergeant"

Man the last portion was great. So much characterization and multiple races/creations doing thier own thing. Dang I am confused. - Great chapter Soulgaurd + sorry for the double post.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

MG42: No, the Mirratord in my story have no connection with the Sharquoi. I have no plans of including the Sharquoi in my story... besides, I don't think I can create them in as such a light as Scorptank or Silky Carp has done.

Captain Safety, thanks for pointing out that "little" mistake. It's been fixed. lol. As far as him seeing the future... he was lying.A wave of mumbles filled the amphitheater as the young warriors gasped in shock at Signs’ words. So young they were, so impressionable, and so stupid. Signs smirked within himself at the outcries, pleased that they were all believing his words.
As for the DNA connection all I can say is... Interesting.

Work is still continuing and I should have an update for you around wednesday.

The Forerunners are highly intelligent creatures, we all know that. I suppose they could seriously -blam- up some DNA and create... surprise, surprise, the Flood! Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner... hehe, wasn't that random?

I'm posting something... only to say that I still haven't come up with any theory that might be soulguard-ish. Sure, I've come up with something, but that isn't truly satisfying to myself... I'd rather have something good. So just give me some more time... I am ashamed of my lack of insight here....
