Fanfic's are fine so long as you don't get an inflated ego. Then when the bubble bursts, and a publisher looks at what you just placed in front of him, his face slowly twisting into an angry scowl as he flips through it, you realize internet praise only goes so far. To the edge of the internet, and no further.

I couldn't be bothered anyway... There's money to be made in the world, but it's not reserved for fanfic-writers-turned-real-thriller-like-fantasy-stuff writers... unless you're J.K. Rowling, but it took her like twenty years to get something written and published... and I want to be rich before I'm too old to be interested in girls... Like a famous British comedian said it:

"I want to be young, wild and rich, then middle-aged, rich and have the -blam!- appetite of a rhinoceros, and then be old and annoy people by pretending that I'm deaf", I personally think the first stage is most important....

I've had that same problem before Scorptank. The way to solve it is to immediately never write anything ever, and just fool around for as long as possible. That might not sound like a strategy, but I swear it works, or maybe it doesn't. If I ever start writing again I'll let you know.
I am fooling around, and not doing anything at all... it's not getting me anywhere....

I hear you scorptank, I totally hear you.

In a little off topic info... "If I Were Your Hero" just crossed the 20,100 hit point for FF.net. Yup, a major milestone. It may not mean much to some, but considering how many Halo stories are posted on FF.net, and that mine does not star the Master Chief, it is a huge accomplishment. That's a lot of people to read the story.

"The Mirratord" has become my fastest Review story since "Stand, Five Feet High". After 2 Chapters, it has been reviewed 14 times. It is setting a pace to pass "Stand, Five Feet High" in review numbers. (IIWYH has more, but "The Mirratord" will not be as long as IIWYH)

That's all for now, more later.

Fanfiction.net hates me, it wouldn't let me read the second chapter...

Soul,

What is going down in your world? Should have some revolutionary writing pretty soon with the near release of Ghosts of Onyx. Give us an update eh?

Whoa, it has been a while since I have posted here.

So far, I'm twiddling my thumbs and waiting for my Ghost of Onyx book. Though it pains me that there are people in the world that already have it. *sigh*

The Mirratord story is now in full gear, though I'm sure that chapter 6 will slow things down a bit. Head over to FF.net to read that story. If you already haven't.

Also, I've been spending a lot of time over at the Mirratord Fanfiction group. They even interviewed little ole' me. Go figure. I've been reading a lot of the stories in the group, critiquing and giving advice to up and coming writers, or at least helping them as best I can. If anyone has had any doubts about the Mirratord group, rest assured I am aware of it, and a part of it. Mainly I just try to keep things calm and happy, but I mostly read the fanfics and review them from time to time. The link to the group is in my sig.

Well, that's all for now. I'll be back soon to update what will happen with Book 3 after I finish Ghost of Onyx...

~soulguard
stupid bookstores in my area don't get early copies... nooooo.. but half the silly world already has it and I have to frackin wait. Frack! Stupid bookstores and their lack of breaking street date crap... FRACKERS!

“But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God..."

Jeez, and all this time I thought you resorted to correcting papers and chasing tails.

Curious, do you update your mirratord story in your group? Either way, time to get around and join. Looks like you have some good authors in the group.

As to the book, what about Amazon.com or the like? Quick googling results in a current cheap price of $7.77. Gee, I cannot imagine why they settled on that number? Funny, I just noticed you can get the book in audio format as well.

Anyhow, glad to hear your (still) writing and I have 6 chapters to catch up on (benefits of ignorance, eh? .

Good old bungie, making the world better for us Halo fans.

update status for Book 3Hopefully you are/have/going to read the Ghosts of Onyx, and you have/will undoubtably noticed that there are some serious troubles with the Side Trilogy fitting in here. As I suspected, the addition of Kelly and Halsey has bit me in the bottom.

Now, I have 2 options: Rewrite or Ignore. Senseing that this could occupy all of my writing time from now until the release of Halo 3... I am leaning more towards Rewrite.

It has always been my dream that this story fit with the books and the game. But I am not concerned about the Seed Ship or the or Elite homeworld ... I am more concerned about Kelly and Halsey. So I officially announce that at the conclusion of "The Mirratord" I will begin the rewrite of If "I Were Your Hero." Picking up were the Good Doctor and Kelly come in.

Comments?

Phoenix is dead, long live Phoenix!

Well currently I do not know how the Ghosts of Onyx goes so I am in the dark to how big a problem you are in. I suppose there are three questions.

Can you easily rewrite IIWYH to fit in with the storylines of both your trilogy and the Halo arc?
Would it require a huge change to IIWYH?
Would it be better to wait for Halo 3 before posting the final of Fluffy Bunnies?

Personally I cant answer the first two questions, but I think we can say yes for the third.
So if the answers go Yes, No, Yes... go for a rewrite definantly.

Oh and after the fluffy bunnies trilogy is over shall we see if we can get this cannon? or just get some bungie member to say that they have read this and that they like it.

yeah, I think I can. I can rewrite IIWYH to fit with Halo books and Halo 3, while still being it's own unique story. But with that said, I will most likely have to wait for Halo 3 before anything "new" is done. Mainly, the thing with Halsey and Kelly will have to be completely removed, something I've been thinking about since I finished Ghost of Onyx. I know what needs to change and how to do it, but it means that a lot of thing may change.

This could be good and bad, and it can help keep the story out of the way of the official matierial. Without Kelly and Halsey, the story falls into it's own catogory which can be good.

As for the Completion of the "Fluffy bunnies" Trilogy, I think I'd be happy if just one bungie rep reads it and says, "not bad". It would be awesome if they considered it canon material, but only time will tell.

Hell, if they even said they wanted to include the Mirratord in their official material I'd be blown.

Whats the Trilogies Official name again, I still can't remember it.

I'm just wondering who can find the cure for the flood. Mabey the stealth ship could have one of the other Spartins onboard, Hmm... But who to replace Hasley... I leave that up to your genius to decide...

So yeah I think you should go ahead with the re-write. It'll kinda substitute the editing of it.

I agree, instead of simply editing it, a rewrite would be more ... fun. (??)

As for the title, right now it is officially the "Halo Side Trilogy", but I am still searching for an overall title.

Perhaps "Lords of the Covenant" or "Palab's Rings" or "Star Battles: A Grunty Hope", "Return of the Energy Sword"... lol. "The Happy Bunnys Quest for Satisfying Carrots in Mr. Pope's Garden of Fun Fun Happy Greens."

He watches every Hodgetwin video they put up...on ALL their channels. He calls them the Hodge Triplets, and considers himself the 3rd triplet. He's started talking and acting like them now. Every other line out of his mouth "Thaaas some BULLLLLL**** maaayne" or "Gotta make dem gainzzzz". He calls his biceps "gains". When he eats post-workout, he talks to his biceps, "Don't worry gains, I'm feeding you. Daddys gonna feed you, gainz *kisses biceps*".

Those are, quite honestly, some of the best names ever. I laughed at the last one.

Well, I read Ghosts of Onyx, and I thought of you, Soulguard.

I kept wondering how much the book might change your work as it stands, especially as I started reading the continuing story for Halsey and Kelly. . . and then there's the whole deal with the functionality of Onyx; so needless to say, if you do a rewrite for IIWYH, I'm just going to have to read it again out of curiosity! I'm glad to hear you've been writing this whole time. . . I've got some Mirratord stories to read. ;)

HUGE NEWS ABOUT BOOK 3
Pass the word to everyone you know that is awating news of the Status for Book 3.

As it stands, I will begin Book 3, "The Path of Reclamation", promptly when the Mirratord ends.

Yup you read that correctly. The reason is this; I was forgetting that this is a Fanfic. Nothing more. Though I would love to make this story flow perfectly with the canon story, it would be impossible to do so within a feasible time frame. I am also very much interested in pursing other writing ventures in the future, beyond Halo and beyond Fanfiction. I recently even thought of a great story for Dead Rising, but I will only tackle one thing at a time. This may come as a shock to some, because I was determined to let the story flow seemlessly with the source material, but if I did that I would not be able to really have fun and interest in the story may fade before Halo 3 is released.

So, what this means is that "The Path of Reclamation" will no longer be a "TRUE" side story, but more of an alter-universe type story. Don't let that scare you, I will try to stick as close as I can to the actual Halo content as I can, however, there is no longer the restraint of worrying about characters' locations.

Kelly and Doc Halsey will continue to play a huge role in the Early stages of the story, and while the Chief is off saving the world, The Black Ops will be underground doing their thing to protect humanity from something far worse than the Covenant.

I am currently still working on "the Mirratord" and the Script for "PoR". And once "The Mirratord" is complete, I will be posting "PoR" in the Halo 3 Forum and on FF.net.

Also, this means that the Re-write of IIWYH will not happen. I'll be doing some edit checks, but nothing will change. Stay tuned for more info.

Yo highland brute, been a while. Glad you following the story. and yeah, the idea to rewrite the story would take away a lot of what made it cool. I was going to remove Kelly and Halsey and make Doctor Smith the smart one. lol. oh well, sorta glad that didn't happen.

A few more weeks... roughly four more chapters of the Mirratord and then I will post PoR.

There have been a couple good discusions in the Mirratord Forums... swing by when you get a chance, and catch up.

Nice, to see your still around. If you want to read the unedited version of a chapter early, join soulguards group, The Mirratord, he tends to post it early in there. Kind of miss your sadistic humour Mr Clark.

Anyway onto topic.

I had a small question, Will book 3 be posted in this thread or in a new one. I would suggest this thread, for all my opinion is worth.

Wow, Mr_C, Lai Tasha, and Highland Brute, posting back to back... take a picture.

Yes Mr_C. so far, the reviews have been positive and mixed. And it is on track to pass SFFH in the amount of reviews.

I'm stilling thinking about it Lai. I'd like to continue it here in this thread, but at the same time people may not be able to find the first post of book 3. I'd have to make some edits on the first page, and it is already maxed on words. But we'll see.

And yes Highland, it will be posted on FF.net. However, no advanced posts for the Mirratord group. But i will still do special stuff for the group to keep it going.

Well, they'll have to undrestand this time. I can only post this story in 2 locations, otherwise it'll become taxing to keep track of it. Hopefully they will forgive me.

But for you faithful few, I have already started with several ideas for the openning 10 chapters of Book 3. Yes, notes are done, and some writing has commenced. The Mirratord is here, almost ready to post, but I had so much fun working on the Book 3 notes that I had to start or the excitment would have killed me.

What can you expect from book 3....

The Path of Reclamation
The command deck alarms sounded jarringly loud as the helmsman melted in his seat. Captain Monroe screamed as the heat from the plasma beam seared the sweat from her brow. She tossed herself away from the forward view portal as two of her command crewman pulled her beyond the deck door. It sealed behind them as she gasped.

Cortana’s voice radioed on the speaker. “Captain, I can not hold the ship together. Engines are off line. All communications with the aft of the ship has been severed. That attack came from the Forerunner ship.”

Siren’s voice then crossed over Cortana’s. “That ship has a system unlike anything I’ve seen. I couldn’t counter its defenses. It locked on to the ship via my remote connection!”

“Captain!” Cortana interrupted. “Ship stability is zero! We are free falling! Get to a life pod! GO!”

Monroe and the last of her command crew wasted no time. They sprinted down the corridor, tripping and falling over oxygen vents and leaking water lines. The Rogue Fantasy was sunk by one shot from the power of the Forerunner ship.

OHHHH... did I give away something big? Nope... you have no idea what's in store for book 3. This is just one jarring tale from a first chapter that is filled with ACTION. From the beginning of chapter one, to the last sentence of the chatper, you will be reminded of the events in Book 2, and taken on a roller coaster ride of death and mayhem. The Covenant are kicking the crap out of Earth's defenses and no one is safe. NO ONE!

Throw away everything you think about the Halo Side Trilogy because the Crap is going to hit the Fan.

Stay tuned and get excited. ;)
Or maybe I'm too excited. lol.
