AardvarkYou are correct, and we shall see. I do apologize for not posting in your thread, but I am reading it at a leisurely pace. You've done a lot of work... A LOT! Once I hit a good stopping point I'll post a nice critique and work into the rest of the story. Again, thanks for reading. I'm glad you are enjoying it.
And as for the sun and it's dreadful rays upon your skin. lol I'm so glad I don't have that problem.
Lai TashaI've read through it a couple times now, and I think I see what you mean about skipping. The section where Simyaldee is listening to the Brutes, but it's not, everything is in tact. I was worried for a moment that I may have not copy something correctly, but everything is still together. Simyaldee's "death" scene was really not intentionally trying to mislead. A few choice words were used to relay, story wise, that he would appear to be dead or in a really deep unconscious state: "The nothingness at the end of life." I wanted this phrase to really capture that he would seem more then just unconscious, that he did in fact "die", but only for a moment. If I wanted to fool you guys, I would have done something really mean, like not mention him at all for a few levels. Simyaldee's (and Gridolee's) deaths were really there for the other characters in the story, to make them think that he was dead.
The far away world, is not quite as far away as one might think. But I'll leave the details of that for another time. Seems everyone is questioning the Sharquoi and what they will relate to in the Haloverse. It was mentioned that the Sharquoi was going to make an appearance in Halo 2, but got cut at the last minute. Same thing may happen this time, but Frankie and several other B.net staffers seem to suggest that we may actually face off against the creatures this time. What a Sharquoi is, and what it will do in my story will be revealed in the coming levels. And I'm glad you're looking forward to more fun. XD
FredA very good observation, Fred. But it is not so much that they take longer to reach maturity, the average Elite, in this story, is combat ready around the age of 18, and they are able to maintain their flexibility and agility for nearly 90+ more years. The Elders, are the warrior Elites who have reached the age of 150 earth years. Though they are older, they are still quite strong, but they know that they are no longer what they used to be. So on a comparison standpoint, humans and Elites reach combat age at about the same time, however, humans can only fight for an additional 40-50+ years, while elites can fight for twice as long before their body begins to degrade.
Regret knowing about the Bloodline and the Gravemind, is still up for debate. In IIWYH, "Mercy" tells everyone about the creation of the first Gravemind form, but let us not forget that Regret is the younger of the Hierarchy and Truth and Mercy never really trusted him much.
Last StandingWell, slowly but surely all the tools in Halo 3 will be added, but only when it makes since. I won't have the Elites randomly pulling out trip mines or bubbles shields, because they would first need to acquire said tools. The instance where Simyaldee uses a spiker grenade is because he found it on the body of a Brute. And earlier, when the NEW assault rifle was added, it was because of a UNSC weapons drop in the area. Randomly giving your characters new weapons without explaining how they got them.. well... it would suck. lol. Glad you enjoyed.
wildfireYeah, the summer writing plan is in full swing. I mean, I work a full time job, so the summer isn't quite what it used to be back in my younger days. Teh summer is just another rotation of the Earth around the sun. It's just hot outside, for us northern hemisphere folks. You southern hemisphere kids are probably starting to freeze your butts off soon. But yeah, more story, more insanity.
