Hopfully someone will be able to help me with this.

The game itself works great on my laptop. I wipe the floor with the system minimum requirements. EXCEPT, it seems to freeze at odd points, and the only way to "fix" it, is to restart my computer. After the restart, I get an error message sayign my video card ( as the topic says, a Radeon Mobility 9000 IGP) was the cause of it.

I know the support on Microsofts site says Halo PC has a problem with the Radeon 9000, but I am not sure if my Mobility 9000 is the same as the normal 9000. I have tried to do what they suggested, however the "patch" they suggest can never seem to install.

My friend keeps on telling me that it's because I am using a laptop, but as I mentioned above, before the game freezes, it works great. No choppyness, slowdown or anything.

I have the latest versions of the Drivers, Halo, and Direct X, and yet, it still happens.

Help?

Well, first things first.
Your friend is wrong, and halo does work great wit the ATI radeon 9000.
Except for that problem
Your mobility is based on the reg 9000. So it has the same problem

Does that mean there is no cure?

Ok, at least I know pretty much what it is.

Now however, as they suggest, to download and install the 3.0 Catalyst is where I am having the main problem. I get:

---------------
INF Error
Video Driver Not Found

Setup was unable to complete the installation.
Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup.
----------------

Sorry to be such a bother, as I don't know the first thing about the workings of a Video Card.

Thanks yet again...

Ok, what happened in the end? Did the patch install?

No it didn't. As I pointed out with the above error message. I had to do a system restore to fix the un-installation of my original Display Drivers.

I do have a desktop, but it's 2 years old, and even then it wasn't really all that good.

ohhh you havent read the ATI drivers un install guide?? Well i have a better one its from www.tweaktown.com. The guide is specifically tailored towards th 3.8 and newer catalysts. Sry if im a bit late with the info, but i have installed the catalysts from 3.9 to 4.3 following this guide and it has worked perfectly everytime. What do you have in that laptop?? No lagginess or choppiness? My desktop w/ a radeon 9200se can have framerate probelms.

HP Compaq Presario R3000
P4 2.4 GHz
512 MB Ram
Radeon 9000 IGP
15.4" WXGA TFT Wide Viewing Angle Display
40 GB Hard Drive
DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive

But thanks, I'll give that link you posted a shot.

As for the working of Halo, I can;t run it with everythign set as best as you can go ( 800x600 screen size, everything either on, medium and the occasional high). The ONLY time I got any system lag is when it's loading something big, and even then, it lasted a mere second or two.
