Not too long ago, someone thought that shotguns on Wizard, and Heavy weapons on Blood Gulch made for good CTF matches. That person is clearly wrong.
I sent an email to Bungie's halo pc email, which was recieved (confirmed by the auto mailer), but subsequently ignored. Since you don't acknowledge it, I'm posting it here so you can't ignore it as easily.
Proposed Map Cycle, with changes where appropriate
Vehicles are identical for each team
No other changes are needed in my opinion to the game type except for those stated - everything else is fine as it is.
Blood Gulch
WEAPONS: Normal weapons settings, like other maps
VEHICLES: 1 LAAV Warthog, 1 LRV Warthog
Sidewinder
No Change
Timberland
No Change
Death Island
VEHICLES: 2 Shades, 1 Scorpion, 1 LAAV Warthog, 1 LRV Warthog
Ice Fields
No Change
Danger Canyon
No Change
Gephyrophobia
VEHICLES: Same as now, but remove the banshees
Maps to remove:
Infinity
WHY?: The map is not particually popular, and the banshees
make games frustrating
Wizard
WHY?: Too small for a fun CTF game. The weapons are also
not much fun, as they provide repetitive play
Reasons for Changes:
Blood Gulch
WHY?: Banshees annoy most players. The weapons are 'noobish',
requiring no skill, cause massive lag and low FPS, and the
game is very repetitive
Death Island
WHY?: Banshees are again annoying, allowing players to make
quick captures with little chance of stopping them. Reducing
the number of Scorpions, reduces 'tank camping' - where
players park in the ocean and assault a base with tank fire -
because not only is there only one tank, making it more valuable
but because it means less shells come in, making the stratagy less
effective, there is also not another tank to cover them.
Gephyrophobia
WHY?: Again, the banshees make the game annoying. Due to the lack
of effect that small arms have against them, they are very difficult
to shoot down. Also, it annoys players since they are considered by
many (including myself) to be 'cheap', and requiring little skill.
