Sorry. this is duplicate post. thought the subject needed revision.

I'm a very po'ed Halo PC consumer. Thought I'd try here.

Can't get past the LOGO screen. I can hear the music and when I press enter I hear the game moving through menus but the only screen I see is the logo.

I got it working ONCE by turning off sound hardware accel.

I played with a couple different sound/video configs and now I can't even get back to where it worked with no sound accel.

Tried MS support. Typical scripted "it must be your problem, try a bunch of things that don't work" response.

Very frustrated. Is this the forum where I say I will never buy another bungie game? I am trying to be civil.

P4 2.66G
1G ram
Radeon 9600 XT 256M
SB PCI
winxp home
DX 9.0b

Games I have no problem with:

FS2002
FS2004
LOMAC
Jane's F/A-18
IL-2/FB
Combat Flight Simulator 2
007 Nightfire
F1 Challenge
Nascar Thunder
Nascar 4
Need for Speed 2
Warbirds III
Starlancer
Destroyer Command
Silent Hunter II
Sub Command
Jane's Fleet Command

I realize my sound card is not high-end, but I do not believe it is "outdated." I have the latest drivers.

Well, I'd say that it's a problem with your copmputer, somewhere- sorry for not being able to help you further, I use my trusty Mac to play without problems.

I disagree given the success I have with other games. Your reasoning?

I don't see any reason why the game should have worked on your gaming rig there since you basically got a nice rig setup there...my suggestion only would be to uninstall the game completely. Delete the files and the Savegame, make a complete back of the savegame too. And just completely remove any trace of it and reinstall the game itself. Best to download the latest patch manually, don't use the autoupdates.

Ok this is a problem that is easily rectified. When the game hangs, just open and close your CD\DVD ROM (which ever drive the Halo disk is in). I have a VERY high-end system (1337) that I built for my girlfriend, and it does the same thing sometimes. All I have to do to make it work I have said above. Too Easy!

I will give it a shot this evening. Sounds just screwy enough to work.
