Sam Fisher: Give me some intelligence or you'll be pushing up daisies in a cemetery full of guys just like you.
Hostage: I don't have any intelligence!
Sam: He he. You just called yourself stupid.

A worthier, new nobody.

Don't be offended if we don't all post in your forum though :-)

Ach! Was ist los?

I'm sure a script kiddie could create a forum with fewer bugs, but there's no way in hell it would support a million users and sixty thousand private forums.

Also, the forum code was actually written by Ideal Science, as it says at the bottom of every page.

Oh well thanks for that Recon; all those twists and turns muffed up my beautiful hair.

Regarding thread starter: The problem with Bungie.net is that there is a need to support literally thousands of forums with a large volume of posts in each of them. Each chapter's forum has to be accommodated, and this puts unique strains on Bungie.net that other forums do not have to cope with.

Of course this is just regurgitating what Achronos has posted many times in the past...

If you can find a "Script Kiddie" who can write stable forums that can deal with what Bungie.net requires of them, I'm sure the people here would be more than happy to have words with her.

The only forum that I know of with as many members as bungie and less bugs is AR-15.com

Yeah, a "Script Kiddie" wouldn't have as many users as Bungie.net.

It's one of the most original ones I know of as well. It's not like they could go to sourceforge.net and download the latest build of some open source project and slap it onto the site. There's a ton of custom stuff going on here, and part of the instability is because of everything ELSE this site does, which includes groups and stats.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

It may be very buggy but it supports a heck of a lot of people and keeps stats on 4 million + users. No kiddie could do that.

Roll On The Floor laughing My Farkling Arse Off! You are so funny. That is the most hilarious thing I have ever heard.

It could also be the most retarded.

I'm sick and freaking tired of people saying they could make a better forum than Bungie. The posts on this site take up more space than all the memory of your freaking harddrive. Maybe you should just shut up, go away, learn a little something about computers, stop being a prick, then come back. I promise people will like you more.

No offense...

First of all, its not like making one of them blog sites... some host doesnt just give you a pre-made site, and you just add the pictures

Also, doing codes is tough... i can make a site easily using microsoft word... but with this calibur of internetness... that's like writing each number from 1 to infiniti... or close. but not really

This site has a million...actually more like a billion things it has to keep control of. To keep it squeky clean? The government wouldnt even be able to do that. All of bungie has got to almost hold a terrabyte of information...and thats more than any single hard drive can hold.

Ec0 I think you're on to much crack not to be rude or anything, but I think you should bring it down to a minimum.

First of all you can get single drives that hold more than that.
Second of all, they have much much much more than that to store. All that gaming data, which they have to process to display on this site, check for cheating, etc.
Its not storage thats really the issue here, its bandwith, thousands of people checking this site everyday, not just the forums.

bungie don't actually make the forums idealscience do! look at the bottom of the page

  • 05.03.2005 9:50 AM PDT

No Ideal Science provided the original build, but nearly everything you see here is sweet Bungie goodness
