Im going to get started with a piece from xbox magazine..."Elites dont like brutes and brutes dont like them, most likely we'll see some of this in action" Why do the elites hate the brutes you might ask? This is what i think(here is the theory part) for years the elites have been the best, smartest, strongest, and most trusted faction of the covenant hierarchy. So much so that they were appointed tactical leaders as well as gaurdians to both the prophets and any temples or artifacts of religous significance. Everything was fine and dandy, until the brutes became part of the covenant. Then suddenly the elites were replaced by these stronger, faster, and all around ruthless beasts. So what if(here it comes!) the elites, feeling like the second-rate neglected child in the "family" , rebelled against the prophets, or even joined us!? tell me what you think im listening.

i doubt it. because the prophet in first strike had 300 elites guarding him. they might hate each other, but not enough to go against the propehts will.

i dont think the elites will nessarilly join us, they mite break apart and make thier own group so there will b 3 sides. 4 including the flood. i dont think any covenant group will ever join the humans. the humans would never trust them, and that dosnt seem like the covenant to do that.

Brutes are just temple guards... Elites are still the Generals, tacticians and warriors of the Covenant. Besides, Hunter hate EVERYONE, you don't see them leaving, although they do squish the occasional Grunt or Jackal.

i'd really like it and be tremendously pleased if the elites would break off and form their own, guerilla squads and attack their former master's. even though they're near the top of the covenant hiechy, they aren't treated well enough.

Hunters, like most of the covenant, have no choice but to obey, it dosent matter what they think of everyone else they were defaeted and absorbed into the covenant.

"This most mysterious of Covenant client species, seem almost barely tolerant of their Covenant "masters" and remarkably little is known about their civilization, history or even biology. They work hard in their role as Covenant muscle, and never disobey orders. However, their commitment to the Covenant religion has always been in question, since they continue to maintain their ancient cultural traditions.

Hunters are dismissive and contemptuous of their foes, and in fact, they will only associate with Elites, recognizing and respecting perhaps a similar warrior mentality. Hunters are deployed almost like heavy munitions, and other Covenant will often clear the area of deployment, since Hunters are unconcerned with collateral damage. Huge impenetrable shields, powerful Fuel Rod Guns and tactical brilliance are the hallmarks of Hunter combat."

Taken from the Covenant Primer.

They only associate with Elites, but its nto because they like them. Maybe I went a little over the top with sayign they hate everyone, but from evidence in the book and this article, they just take their orders from Elites, and either ignore or squish everything else.

In the gamespot e3 2003 renders. it shows 2 brutes guarding a prophet, and besides, who gaurded the temples and the prophets before the brutes joined the covenant? Grunts? Jackals? Engineers? I think not. but the hunter could be a possibility. idk

Brutes didn;t recently join the Covies... they are as old as any of the other races... We just never saw them because we never went close to Prophets or temples untill MC boarded the Space Station that had to have at least a prophet and/or temple that Brutes guarded.

Eric Nylund is a terrible author, 300 elites? are you kidding? Man i havent read first strike, but i have read the other to and the fall of reach was ridiculous. Eric Nylund made the mc too god-like. he was the fastest, strongest spartan. and he got shot in the stomach like 3 times and still DIVED over a bar and tackled someone.

why would elites join us, if you have seen the movie the Halo E3 demo at this site you would know that at the end of the movie a whole bunch of elites come out of these drop pods and surround you and then all of a sudden they whip out plasma swords

Where exactly does it say 300 elites?

And Nylund never portrais the MC as invincible. He shows MC's many weaknesses as well as fortes.

"He wasn't the strongest, or the fastest, but he was the bravest... and the luckiest." - Fall of Reach description of MC.

Nope, he's just listed as MIA like all the other Spartans that died as propaganda and morale booster.

Were goign off topic, but yeah the second book was cool in my opinion but not because of Dietz's interpretation of MC, but because he focused more on other things and nto the MC. He showed alot about Marines and ODSTs and about Covie culture.

Yes i do suppose that the elites would make thier own militia if they absolutely couldnt stand the thought of joining us. but still if they did join us , they would have a better chance of winning. and if we could trust them that is definatley a factor. and besides, it would be kind of cool if they joined us. i can see the enlistment posters now... like one that shows and elite and human shaking hands and it says dont give up hope! or one that has an elite in uncle sam's outfit. I want you! WORT WORT WORT! lol

I doubt they will seperate though. Think about it. They were trained and brainwashed since they were little to fight for what they believe in. And since they believe the Forruners are their gods...

- Mike

i read an artical about halo 2, and they got a Psychic to predict halo 2! from XBOX NATION!

this what she says:
I see a lot of partnerships in the cards. There's something to do with pairs. Perhaps the Covenant will ally itself with someone or something else. Also, there will be an alliance broken.

i dont believe in Psychics but that would
be cool!
