You will need to download ALL THREE, as in the dedicated server, the update AND the map pack...

Install it as you would anything else, install the maps and update the server. Now all you have to do is set up your init.txt with whatever gametypes you wish to run and start her up!

Are you going to be running the dedicated server from a seperate machine, or are you intending to run it from the machine you also wish to play on? If it's the latter, I have two points to make... Firstly, there really isn't much point in running a dedicated server from your own machine. All you would have to do is enable the console (which you appear to have done), and you would have just as much control as you would with a dedicated server, but with more ease of use (i.e, not having to type 'rcon password ****, and THEN giving your command...)

Secondly, if you still wish to run the dedicated from your machine regardless, you will have to start up Halo PC, go into settings and change the ports that Halo uses. Just changing them up two numbers each will do it. You would then be able to see your server in the Gamespy lists...

Hope this helps.

You don't need to download the map pack. I didn't and my ded server runs fine.

you only need the map pack if you don't have halo pc on your machine. you have to download the ded. server 1.02, then download the 1.06 patch for it.

I am going to run it from the same machine I play Halo PC on. Why do I have 2 change the ports? And i want to run a dedicated server so there isnt as much lag. Also, Cant I have the server running 24/7 even when my computer is off? Or is that only if you pay 2 run a dedicated server???

You will have to change the ports if you want to play on your own server because it can't use ports for 2 things at once. Running a dedicated server may or may not reduce lag. If you play on it, you will have very low ping but others may lag. The server can only run while the computer is turned on. How could it run if theres nothing to run it? If you have windows XP and you have other people using different accounts, just keep it running and instead of log off, pick change user. If you don't want your server to slow down the rest of your machine, you will have to have a good processor and atleast 512 mb of Ram. If you have it up, surfing the web will cause lag also.

ahh crap, i thought u had to download the map pack even if u had Halo PC, oh well, i've got lots more room. Also if you're running the DS on the same computer that u are playing on u might have to play (change) with the recieving and sending ports, i would just change the recieving port to like 2007, or whatever the next number is.
