Are Myth and Myth2 compatible with OSX?

If no, is there ways around this?

Any help is much appreciated.

Well, Myth TFL and Myth II are not OS X native out of the box. I have a memory of them not working under Panther (OS X 10.3) for some reason in Classic. However, the good people at Project Magma, the Myth source code development project (like Aleph One, only for Myth) have revamped the Myth games' source codes so that they are compatible with newer OSes.

The latest version of Myth II is a very stable public beta build of the upcoming version 1.5. You can find it on the Project Magma website.

So far there are no updates from Project Magma (as far as I am aware) for Myth TFL, however Myth II 1.5 has a feature called vTFL, which allows TFL-style gameplay, and a small download (if you have Myth TFL - if you don't it's a helluva big one) will allow you to play TFL maps in Myth II. This allows you to use all the feature enhancements of Myth II 1.5 to play Myth TFL. You can even change the Myth II interface to be exactly as the TFL interface is. You can get all the vTFL files on this page (look for Myth II 1.5, Myth TFL Interface, and The Fallen Levels v2.

For multiplayer, the bungie.net multiplayer service is no longer available. However, PlayMyth and MariusNet are 3rd-party multiplayer metaservers. The Myth II 1.5 download includes the required files for the metaservers, but you'll need to register at their websites.

Hope this helps!

Yes, It does. Thanks, man. Bungie.net moderators are cool!

Unfortunately, the whole reason I wanted to play Myth again was for Bungie.net multi-player.... :(

Do PlayMyth and MariusNet have good online community features?

The reason b.net no longer exists as a Myth server is that Bungie gave up the rights to Myth and Oni to Take 2 in the Microsoft acquisition deal - Take 2 owned 19% of Bungie, so they got the rights to the Myth games and Oni. As such, Bungie no longer supports Myth.

I don't have a PlayMyth account myself, since it won't accept my email address (which is definitely not a free email address, but anyway), but Marius is virtually indistinguishable from the original b.net, and I'm guessing that the same goes for PlayMyth. Both servers have fairly extensive communities, and they have ladders and everything on their sites. I can't really remember all the features of b.net, so I'm not really sure what you're thinking of other than that. :)

The hardest/worst part about those new communities is getting an account. You have to have a paying email account (for playmyth at least) and you may have to wait a few days for someone on the other end to hit the "okay" button on your account. Obviously, that's not that hard, which means. . .

playing on them is just like playing on b.net! Its fun and easy and you'll barely notice a difference! Now granted, you won't see the number of ppl that b.net enjoyed, but its still myth mp, its still fun, and its still around! enjoy! (i myself would be on it, but i don't have OS classic which is needed to install myth before i can patch it. :/ )

I personally play on Playmyth. Never tried marius.

-btw- when you first log onto either server a LOT of the games will be red and unjoinable, because plugins (modifications to the game, but I think you know about those) are being used. Ask around for a place to download them
