I recently played some LAN games with my friends. While playing I noticed that when you are at quite close range it is blatently obvious to the oppenant that you are throwing a grenade. A big left (or right, I forget) arm arcs over and releases a grenade. It can easily be seen, so the enemy can easily dodge it.

I figured a way round this problem, please don't flame if this was figured out ages ago.

Pull the left trigger, immediately followed by B. This will throw a grenade but if done right, will just look like a normal melee. On closer inspection (real close up), a grenade is launched from inside the melee, from the chest.

It works best for disguising that little Fragmentation grenade you want to launch at a nearby enemy; the Plasma's glow gives it away.

If you do this with a fragmentation with an enemy stood in range of the melee (and directly facing them) then you can damage them with a melee, jump back and the grenade will quickly finish them off.

I will try that when I get home, but it is hard to disguise the bright blue sphere flying at you with a melee attack. ;-)

But can be easier with a frag grenade.

Yeah sorry about that guys, I meant left trigger (I've edited it now).

By the way, I didn't mean super closerange. To give an example: Sidewinder, running into your enemies' base, enemy stood guarding the flag, throw grenade.

That's what I'm on about jb5432. Just the way I describe it (left trigger, immediately followed by B) assures it happens. If you do left trigger and B together, sometimes you don't get both.

Nice to see that my random little exploration of Halo's capabilities is helping some people out there; it helped me too in a LAN game today. I played the usual: 4vs4 CTF in Blood Gulch and then Sidewinder.

It works a treat, mainly because the enemy doesn't see a huge arm arcing over and lobbing the grenade.
