Good point...on both

In Halo CE I never had to worry about if my weapon was going to work this time. Everyone has seen those threads about how inconsistant the shotgun is, but many aspects of this game feel inconsistant. I don't know if it's the engine, but it just doesn't have that rock solid feel that Halo CE did.

Edit:
Was playing training grounds last night CTF shotguns on Midship and I shot a guy point blank, melee'd him, then shot him two more times and it still didn't kill him. He then killed me instead. How is that for inconsistant?

Like Heavymetal said (and is it just me or does his attitude seem to have changed since the update, but anyway), both very good points.

Halo 1 - I liked the fact that the sniper rifle was A LOT harder to use, it just annoys me when on coag a sniper kills me and then is the postgame lobby starts saying about how great they are... If I gave them a game in Halo: CE then chances are they wouldn't be able to even hit me. I'm not saying i'm a great player but I knew I earned the kill when I get a headshot out of a moving warthog.

Halo 2 - I think that duel wielding is a great addition, as it adds another layer of strategy (since the update I mean, instead of single wielding being so weak).

Everything about halo 1, and acouple of things from halo 2 like boarding, xbox live, graphics, switching weapons with marines, and DLC. (Still angry about paying though, bungie said alot of things about halo 2 that didnt happen, but i really thought they were serious when they said DLC was all going to be free.

Halo.....I liked the feel of it....it felt more "realistic",If that's a good way to put it. It felt lke a great struggle and had a more emotional, and mysterious feel. I also liked being able to keep a weapon thogh the whole level (I could go though ANY level with the AR, without running out of ammo even once.Man I loved that thing). And the levels(in my opinion) were more open. And I know no one could ever forget the absolutly phenomonal apperence of..................THE FLOOD. Holy crap,I'll never forget that. But I should stop before I start rambling on...But, Halo 2 is still my favorite FPS.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

The storyline in H1 was way more intense. You and the survivors of the Pillar of Autum crash on a ring. Fight the covies for survival. then the flood kill everyone and u have to blow up the ring. It was great.

And the Soldiers in H1 were way cooler

LOL...it comes and it goes. I really like the changes they've made so far. A lot of times I act irritated even though I'm not.

But, to your statement. It was much harder to snipe in H1. The problem I have with H2 is it has become all about who controls the super weapons. Sure this happened in H1 too, but it wasn't nearly as drastic as it is now. Not only is it easier to snipe in H2, but all of the other weapons have been toned down, making it very unbalanced. I hate being trapped somewhere with only an SMG afraid to move or even poke my head out. I love the BR starts now, that has helped out a great deal in my opinion.

When I would headshot a driver out of a hog in H1, it was pure luck...LOL In fact I can only remember doing that once. Went to a tournament and we beat the first team. Went on to the next one and it was CTF of Blood Gultch. Jumped in the hog, and we started driving to the other base. The next thing I know I'm dead. Head shot, out of the hog. My friend was so surprised I had to start saying, "I'm dead, get out! I'm dead, get out!!!" It was funny. I knew we were in deep, DEEP trouble. And we were. That was a flat out ass kicking.

The problem was that afterwards the owner said that team (2 on 2 team) was ranked like 3rd in the country. We just happened to play in a place that had like 3 of the top 5 teams in the world at that time. TDT Darkman was there too, but we didn't play him. He and his partner went on to the finals. That's where STK first beat them and made a name for themselves (that was in a later round, StK wasn't there) because at that time Darkman was unstoppable. Anyway, that's my little memory. Me and my friend still talk about that "OH CRAP" moment.

I'm no pro and never will be, but going to the tournament was still fun. We still play Halo 1 on XBC on the weekends. I'm still in awe when we play some of the teams we do. Makes me wonder what they do to the teams we beat 50 to 7. No wonder some people hated the pistols or this or that. Without a ranking system they would play these elite teams and would just get clobbered. We're pretty darn good, but we still get our butts handed to us from time to time. Only thing that bothers me is a LOT of teams now are using timers to catch the power ups and weapons. We don't want to play like that, and it gets harder and harder to find a fair game with so many doing it now.

The story on H1 was a lot better, H2's being well... the same. the average marines were well cool, but the elite marines( the ones at the beginning of Regret) look the biz'

I just had over 2 people (for a total of 3) and we played Halo and Halo 2 multiplayer, after they had left my parents said they could hear us laughing and shouting a lot, and then a point where it was silent for about 10 minutes and then lots of laughing and shouting again, they asked "why did we stop laughing and shouting?", I replied "...we were playing Halo 2...". I didn't realise until today that the soul of the game was lost in Halo 2. Halo takes so much more skill and its so satifying to take someone down when they thought they had you (i.e when I was having a pistol sniping match around the middle of Blood Gulch and needed to reload, when suddenly my shields dropped (neither of us had scored a hit until now) then he thought he had me, I quickly switched to my sniper rifle and let off the last remaining shot in my rifle and scored a headshot, all of us were jumping around because of this, but it was so impressive that was all just wanted to find each other so we could continue fighting).

In Halo 2 when someone starts shooting you then most of the time, thats pretty much it, they have the kill, but in Halo if they start shooting then with some fancy manuvering then you can come out on top, thats probabily what I miss the most.

I wish that there were more levels like the Silent Cartographer. That is my all time favorite Halo level. To me, Halo had an extra something that Halo 2 is missing. I don't know, but I hope Bungie can find a way to fill in the void.

Same here. Even with it feeling more like Halo CE with the changes, something just seems to be missing. Can't even really put a finger on it.

Inconsistent. I couldn't have put it better myself. I don't know what it is either. Sometimes, I know I'm supposed to die but I live. ????
And then just the overall feel of Halo 2. In Halo: CE, Master Chief was a science experiment. Not alot of people knew about him. But in part 2, he is a walking tank. A Hollywood badass. The game was ruined for me when Master Chief walks out of the burning Scarab, untouched. I didn't like Halo 2 when I turned it on and even now. They should've kept the physics and guns the same. WHY BUNGIE!? WHY!?

Halo 1 doesn't have weapons being inconsistant! like the shotgun, if you shoot someone point black they die, if you hit someone in the back they die! halo 1 needs xbox live, new vehicles, better MP options, and vibration for when you shoot the sniper would be nice---and that'd be awesome

in the campaign you get dropped off from a pelitcan and you can see yourself going down to the ground, and you then work your way into the level---instead of seeing a crash and then the screen going from black to regular slowly (halo 2)

Also, where the **** were the hunters! wtf! and the black armor?!!!!?!?!

I could go on for a while about what makes each so good, but I think when it comes down to it i'm still a bigger fan of halo ce...

Like Project 5, the physics are probably what i miss the most. I feel like I could throw a grenade further than a cyborg...doesn't seem right. Halo 2 doesn't feel as "realistic." It just doesn't feel like Halo anymore. I would have sacrificed interactive barrels and tires for the same physics.

Oh well, Halo 2 has loads of positives too. I'm just too lazy to ramble.

They are both great games and I give mad props to Bungie. They still rock my face.

i like the shild now because if you half way to the base on CTF and you run into someone then kill them your not screwed if you walk in the base cuz you'll still have full health without picking it up

well guys when your playing halo 2 why don't you just stay with an smg? why dual weild? well its because the smg just doesn't cut it! the assault rifle did in halo 1

okay heres another one...why don't you stay with just one plasma rifle? why do you need any dual? well its barrely even freezes them now! so you have to get something that does damage- its just freezes them

personally i DID get mad in halo 1 sometimes, but in halo 2 i get mad everytime i play because stuff is SO RANDOM

It's not really random, it just feels random. There's alot more variables in Halo 2 than CE. It sucks to me, because I mastered the system for CE.

I completely agree with Project 5 here...there's just something about the Halo CE campaign that made it fun to play no matter what, for me it was pretty much the perfect game. I don't really know if I enjoyed it more just because it was the first time I had experienced a game like Halo or if it was because there was something really different about it compared to Halo 2. Maybe it was the fact that Halo CE didn't have two plot lines to follow or something else, its hard to tell what exactly made the difference.

Very true. I get pissed A LOT because things don't work as they should, like the shotgun. Also when I try to melee people sometimes I just end up pushing them around some.
