I dont know if u guys have read my old post (Crazy, So Crazy It Just might work...), but i thought of something.

In my old post i talked about how i believe that all of the covenant blindly follow the prophets.
Also, in the books we know that the Elites and Brutes are constantly going at it. Now, Both the Brutes and Elites absolutely hate each other and they both believe that they should be higher in their social caste, So most of it is jealousy, but as we book-readers know, The Covenant originally started with the alliance of the Prophets, the Elites, and the Engineers(i think, not sure about engs.). Now, i believe that they will probably stick together no matter what; BUT, these newer species of the Covenant (Grunts, Jackals, Brutes, Hunters) have been captured. This may make them easier to turn on their captors. Knowing this (In my old article i talk about how the covenant blindly follow the prophets and the prophets just want human destruction, not their gods wanting it, and the prophets wanting something in Africa), I believe that at some point in Halo 2, these captured races will learn of the deception and break free from the Covenant's grasp on them.

This can end up two different ways:

One: The Covenant have a Brutal (Pardon the pun) Civil War and end up destroying each other or almost destroying each other.

Two: The Captured Races actually make an effort to team up with us against their Captors.

There is also a third opion i thought of:

Three: If the Covies don't split up, then either They eventually have to team up with us to defeat the flood or we all die, or MC ends up defeating the Covies and the Flood in on BIG[/colo r] BAN[/c olor]G

Please post your Variations of this or similar Theories, or just feedback

Also one more reason that i believe The Captors will never join us(Unless the whole covenant does) is that in the multiplayer u can only be an elite, now Bungie wouldn't pit you against your allies in Multiplayer (probably) lol

None of those are gonna happen i think, there's loads of reasons why they're in the covenant and can't leave if they wanted to.

Also, the covies will never team up with the humans cuz they wanna destroy us sooo much.

What if there already are one or several rebel factions within the covenant? Perhaps several unorganized factions that are weak alone, but strong if they would ever unite.

I base this on the very highly advanced weapons and starships the covenant use. I know they have gotten all their technology from the forrunners, but let me explain.

For humans, more advanced weapons are most often being researched during war, because it's during war that better weapons are needed.

The covenant get all their technology from forerunners ruins. There they find very advanced weapons and technology. But I don't think they use exact copies of everything, I think they find the technology and build their own mixes and such using what they find (for example: finding the technology for slipspace drive in one place, and plasma torpedo technology in one place, and then putting those two together). I have already said that the covenant are very advanced and are very good at using their stuff, but I don't see how they would reach that level of skill in using what they find if they didn't need it. I know they could have developed all ground utilization of their tech during their conquest of the lesser species of the covenant, but that doesn't explain the quality of their space ships. None of the lesser species had space ships (I think), so the only explanation I can think of is that they have fought another race and exterminated them, or fighting with eachother

I'm sorry if what I have written is hard to understand. I know there are probably many grammatic and spelling errors. I am not good enough at english to fully express how I think.

I think knowing more about any compensation their soldiers recieve would narrow the possibilities. I think your theory is in line with what ONI believed in the book. Good theory. I wonder sometimes about the hunters. A planet of them would be hard to beat, which makes me think that they are compensated like mercanaries or something. Do you think that conquered species are controlled by force, or like the goths, controlled through compensation by the romans?

The hunters are too few to defeat the ´rest of the covenant. When they were assimilated, the covenant bombarded the hunters planet from space, forcing them to choose between extinction or joining the covenant
